Barry Shaw: Ignoring Palestinian Pathology Endangers Israel

The corrupt PA political supporters of the aging and impotent Mahmoud Abbas are in full blown retreat.

They have lost the Palestinian street that chant Hamas incitement. They have lost the Muslim holy places to Hamas flag-waving rioters. And now they have lost the student body of their Palestine society.
Last week, students at Birzeit University voted overwhelmingly for the Hamas-affiliated Islamic bloc, easily defeating the Yasser Arafat Martyrs bloc (yes, there are student bodies with this name).
The most chilling aspect for aging Mahmoud Abbas, and Israel, is that Birzeit is not located in the Gaza Strip. It is just 5 miles north of his office in Ramallah.
Remember this when representatives of the United States, Europe, and Australia press the insane policy of forcing Israel out of more strategically important territories.
They are dancing to Hamas’s bidding in the crazy notion that only further Israeli withdrawals can ensure a future peace.
No they won’t! They take zero account that Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad is rising in popularity and the tipping point has been crossed.
In effect, people like Biden are demanding that Israel surrender vital security-important territory to Hamas, including Jerusalem.
That is the very definition of political and strategic insanity.
Only a complete reverse of prolonged regressive Palestinian hate and violence, that includes religious anti-Semitism and a fixation to see the end of Israel, replaced by a generation raised on the promise of peace, progress, and prosperity, willing to show a Palestinian willingness to abandon a century of lethal bad habits and, instead, begin to enjoy the fruits of peaceful co-existence, will give Israel any encouragement to share land legitimately ours.
For that to happen, the Palestinian Authority needs a complete regime change with the corrupt Arafat leaders replaced by pragmatic technocrats willing to work with Israel for the benefit of their people.
Do I see that happening any day soon?
No, but this is what world leaders, including Biden, should be doing, but aren’t.
It is they that are the real obstacles to peace. Not Israel who is doing what it needs to do. Protect its citizens from a lethal Palestinian pathology.
