Emery McClendon: NYT Claims American Flag ‘Alienates’ Some Of Us? Really?

The New York Tiime doesn’t know when to quit. They seem to have a deep passion for mocking our nations history, our Founding Principles, and now our Flag, which is known as “Old Glory.”
I guess the publication didn’t learn from a recent editorial article writer who stated that she was “really disturbed” to see Old Glory flown by former supporters of President Donald Trump.
The latest Times article headline, which is published online, is “A Fourth of July Symbol of Unity That May No Longer Unite”. This seems to suggest that everyone other than Trump supporters have ceased to admire and embrace the flag any longer.
The article suggests that the flag has become a clue as to ones political affiliation, and has now become an emblem that helps divide the nation rather than unite us.
The stars and stripes are seen by some according to the article as lines that divide us, and not representing the 50 united stateany longer.
It’s hard to belive that with all of the history, blood shed, and protocol behind the U.S. Flag, that a prominent organization could come to such a conclusion.
Our flag is an emblem that unites us as one nation under God, and the story of how it continued to wave during the assault at Fort McHenry should make every American proud to wave Old Glory.
It’s obvious that America needs a return to civics, and the teaching of our nations history. We have strayed off couse as a people who take pride and patriotism seriously. It’s time to get our minds back on track.
It begins with teaching our children to respect and cherish American values and emblems.
In reality there is no division in America over our flag. The narrative of division is being promoted by those who want to fundamentally transform America. It won’t work because those of us who hold to the premise that America is a great nation even though it is not perfect, is a place where each of us can prosper and unite around the principle that we are one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Our flag does not alienate us, it unites us, and as it waves it invites people from everywhere on earth to come to America to unite with us to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
