Ann-Marie Murrell on Election Integrity: I Can Hear Catherine Engelbrecht Saying ‘I Told You So’ From Here

All the way up to November 3, I received many calls and texts from friends and family asking my prediction for the election. The first few times I gave my honest opinion: “President Trump will win, unless they cheat. And after months of changing election laws, and with unverifiable mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting, and more, I’m pretty sure that’s the way Biden could win.”

Each time I answered this way I was accused of being too negative and underestimating Trump’s popularity. I tried to explain that out of everything they tried to do to him, stealing the election could be their final blow. As a result, my friends either stopped texting or they simply changed the subject. So from then on, if asked I simply said, ‘I hope Trump wins!’ and let it go at that…

The thing is, I’ve been doing what I do—political writing, editing, and publishing–a full decade now. I’ve become very astute at observing. I read everything; I follow what’s trending on Twitter, and I try to learn every angle possible. Then I pray for discernment.

But over the years, the one area of governance and political activism that continually slips past almost all of us is also one of the most important: election integrity.

During (and just after) every election we hear about ballot boxes ‘suddenly being found’. We hear about broken voting machines, and corrupt poll watchers, and dead voters…Remember during the 2008 election when two thugs were caught in front of a polling place threatening people with a weapon if they didn’t vote for Obama? Yep, that happened, too.

But do any of you reading out there remember if any of the above problems were ever corrected? Did any of you personally follow up in your towns, cities, and states to find out if all the voting problems were fixed? Were those voting machines repaired, and the voter registration system cleaned up so that all the dead folks were eliminated?

One woman who has been trying to right all of the voting wrongs for many years is Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of True the Vote. You might know her name because all of us at PolitiChicks have been following Catherine’s career from the start. I consider her a friend, someone I greatly admire.

In 2018 I had the honor of presenting the Heroes of Conscience Award to Catherine in Los Angeles. She has worked in every corner of the U.S. trying to ensure election integrity. She doesn’t do it for any political party; she fights for all Americans, to help make our voting process as fair and easy as possible. I always thought this should be a no-brainer, that everyone, both Republican and Democrat, should want their votes secured. But after this election I think we can all clearly see exactly why crooked politicians (including the “Republicans” who have been actively campaigning against President Trump) are perfectly happy having crooked elections…

As a result of her trying to clean up our votes, the Obama Administration attacked Catherine (and members of her family) with his then-weaponized IRS. She had to spend enormous amounts of money to legally defend herself and her organization. This went on throughout Obama’s entire 8 years, taking a toll on every aspect of Catherine’s life. But she never gave up; she fought on, continually trying to shine the light on corrupt election processes throughout the U.S.

I was able to chat with Catherine before I presented her award and asked if things were better under the Trump administration. Sadly, her response was, “Not much”. She said between the President having to fight off non-stop fake Russia and impeachment charges, he didn’t have much time to work on things like election integrity. And at the time none of us had any inkling of what was to come in 2020, with Covid, ballot harvesting, last-minute (and very iffy) changes to election laws, crooked politicians (on both sides of the aisle), mail-in ballots, and more…

So here we are, folks.

As I write this it is the evening of November 6 and as I see it we are about to be faced with two options.

Option One, President Trump will be declared the winner. They are already discovering “glitches” in machines that inverted numbers, videos of cheating poll workers, and of course the usual thousands of dead voters. If Trump wins, we can expect to face 4 years of leftists screeching ‘TRUMP STOLE THE ELECTION!’ and ‘HE’S NOT MY PRESIDENT!’ and you’d better believe there will be court battles almost his entire 4 years in office…Oh–and who knows, maybe another disease will magically appear full-force again…

Option Two, VP Biden will win, but not without a long court fight. Of course the media and the powerful enemies of the President (on both sides of the aisle) are already declaring him the winner. And since most of America still watches network news, that’s what they’re hearing, too. And they’re also hearing that anyone who doubts the integrity of this election is a “conspiracy theorist” (including yours truly, as of this article).

Either way, it’s not going to be good for awhile. People will be angry. For awhile.

And still–while millions of conservatives are currently wondering how we ended up this way, my first thoughts the morning of November 4 were with Catherine Engelbrecht. I can only imagine her frustration, knowing how easily all of this could have been avoided had anyone been listening to her–or if anyone had understood the importance of cleaning up elections before the election…

Regardless, I pray that this will maybe, finally, (hopefully) be the wake-up call needed to make the actual changes we need to secure our elections across this entire nation.

Or we will all wake up one morning when all of this is over, shrug, and forget everything, once again…

(I have to add that in addition to True the Vote, only two other organizations, James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas and Tom Fitton’s Judicial Watch, are working very hard on election integrity. Thank God for all of these good people.)
