Trump Picks Barrett For the Supreme Court

President Trump has nominated Amy Coney Barrett to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court. In her introduction remarks, she had this to say: “I love the United States and I love the United States constitution.”
To the left that is like showing a cross to a vampire.
ACB continued,
Justices Scalia and Ginsburg disagreed fiercely in print without rancor in person, their ability to maintain a warm and rich friendship, despite their differences even inspired an opera. These two great Americans demonstrated that arguments even about matters of great consequence, need not destroy affection. In both my personal and professional relationships, I strive to meet that standard.
Unfortunately that isn’t possible in our current political climate thanks to the radical left.
His judicial philosophy is mine too, a judge must apply the law as written. Judges are not policymakers and they must be resolute and setting aside any policy views they might hold.
That is a non-starter as to why the left opposes her. They have used the courts to advance their agenda when the American people rejected their ideology.
Our children are my greatest joy.
This fact, ultimately, is why the left hates her. Amy Barrett is the epitome of a successful, happy, contented woman – so an attempt will be made to destroy her. I loved seeing her family and her tender description of her children. It was moving.
It is likely she will be confirmed. Trump would not have nominated her if McConnell and Graham didn’t have the votes in the Senate. But the process to get there will be difficult. I have no doubt the left will attack Barrett and plunge the country through more hell in a year where most everyone has had enough. I really don’t understand why the Republicans don’t just have an up or down vote. Why put Barrett and her family through what is sure to come?
The left has already started the attacks. The Hollywood left always has to demonstrate that they think they are so important by pontificating on the nomination:
Alec Baldwin: I wonder if Coney, the arch Catholic, realizes that her nomination is only another card that the Psycho turns over to destroy the Constitution.
#VoteProChoice: The rush to confirm this SCOTUS pick *directly* threatens the right to choose, universal healthcare, voting rights, and hope for action on climate change.
Jon Cryer: Dear Republican voters. Remember 2016, when the Senators you elected refused to even consider an Obama nominee while screaming “Let the American people decide!”?
Now that they’ve proven to be lying, racist hypocrites, does that make you less likely to vote for them again? Or more?
Patricia Arquette: Elections are won by margins and there will be people who Vote against Trump and Republicans because they remember their mom, sisters and friends who died from back alley abortions.
Wow, this is an old leftist talking point. They must be really desperate. How about the babies who died from back-alley abortions?
Barbara Streisand: A spiteful Donald Trump picked a woman who is the polar opposite of RBG. Barrett opposes the ACA and a woman’s right to choose her reproductive decisions. She will set the country back decades. Remember the GOP did this in November.
Cher: Trump APPOINTS FEMALE NEOCON JUDGE WHO PLEDGES BEHIND THE SCENES, 2 KILL ACA & PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS DURING A PANDEMIC,& ROE WADE 2 GO.
SICK CHILDREN WILL SUFFER
BECAUSE MEDICINES TOO EXPENSIVE .NO?4 DIALYSIS,HEART CANCER, KIDNEY DISEASES, IF PPL DONT GET TREATMENT
THEY DIE
There it is! People will die! The left ALWAYS falls back to this boring cliché.
The SCOTUS Rapid Response Action Guide, protest planners offer a wide range of guidance for protesters and also provide links so visitors can donate to Planned Parenthood to “protect RBG’s Legacy.”
The guide says, in part:
In this moment of overlapping crises — a global pandemic, mass unemployment, systemic racism, and climate change — the stakes of nominating and confirming a new Supreme Court Justice could not be higher. Supreme Court justices are appointed for life and as the highest court in the US, their rulings shape all of our lives — everything from abortion to segregation, transgender rights to climate change, big money in politics to healthcare. It is unjust and unacceptable to try to rush through a nomination less than 40 days from the election.
With our futures on the line, we must rise up to demand that US Senators stand on the right side of history and let the people decide on the next Supreme Court Justice of this country. We must demand no nomination before inauguration. It’s our future and we should get to choose our justice.
The Google Document also includes suggested slogans to use on signs and social media, including “No Confirmation Before Inauguration,” “Racial Justice,” “A Green New Deal,” and “Reproductive Freedom.”
Oh look a new slogan! Hurray! Gosh I wish I had time to think up clever slogans like that!
Finally, there are some senators whop are already refusing to meet with Barrett:
Richard Blumenthal: I will refuse to treat this process as legitimate & will not meet with Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
Awww.
Ted Cruz had a great response to that:
Excellent idea! And if you & all your Dem colleagues boycott the hearing altogether, we’ll avoid the political circus & the desperate attempts to smear Judge Barrett and her family.
And we’ll confirm her faster!
Confirmation hearings should begin in mid-October. I fully expect the left to do everything they can to demonize Barrett even if they have to make stuff up (wonder if a “yearbook” will suddenly materialize). And Kamala Harris will surely use her time in the hearing to grand stand.
In the end I believe this tactic will backfire on the left just as the time to vote looms closer. And the spectacle of them attacking a woman may move some women away from the Biden/Harris ticket.
Trump has picked his nominee well.
