Keith Childress, Bettie Jones, Kevin Matthews, Leroy Browning, Roy Nelson, Miguel Espinal, Michael Noel.
These are the seven unarmed African Americans killed by police in just one month, December of 2015, when Joe Biden was Vice President.
Whether it’s the case that systemic racism as Joe Biden now claims infects our police departments is debatable. Some of these people were killed by black police officers. Some were physically resisting arrest. Some were violent due to mental illness or drug use. Sadly, the shooting of Bettie Jones was a terrible accident.
The point here is not to fix blame, but only to show that plenty of blacks were being killed by police while Joe Biden was Vice President. Yet he did nothing. Worse, he joined with his boss, Barack Obama in spewing rhetoric and promoting policies that contributed to the methodical division of America.
Now, he says, he’ll magically fix all this systemic racism in his first 100 days if voters will only trust him as president. WOW. He had 2,920 days to fix this problem as Vice President, yet he did nothing except work to make it worse.
Joe, isn’t being honest. Again.
One of his best friends in the Senate was the head of the Ku Klux Klan. As a Senator, he also led the charge to impose mandatory sentencing for minor offenses putting 10’s of thousands of black Americans in prison for decades.
Guess who took the first steps in fixing the enormous criminal justice mess made by Biden? Donald Trump, with his criminal justice reform package known as the First Step Act, has freed thousands of prisoners who were unfairly incarcerated for years.
Criminal justice isn’t the only issue on which Joe Biden failed minorities. As a Senator, he wrote a law that limited the power of courts to order desegregation in schools. He also opposed more charter schools. And he fought vouchers to prohibit families in failing school districts from being able to choose private schools.
And if Joe’s not a racist, what did he mean when he said of Barrack Obama, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.” Bright, clean, and good looking? That’s about as racist as it gets. Though worse, is his more recent comment that “any black who votes for Trump isn’t really black”. Talk about plantation politics.
Joe Biden is an embarrassment.
Biden knows he can’t keep his promise to fix “institutional” racism in 100 days. If racism is institutional, as he insists, then he had 40 years to fix it. Addressing the issues of race just in police departments will require a meaningful conversation with blacks, whites, Hispanics, Asian Americans – and police – who are committed to doing what’s best for America’s neighborhoods – not to benefit a single group, but to do what’s right.
Joe’s ridiculous promise to fix racism in 100 days is the latest progressive nonsense we’ve come to expect every four years as Democrats claim the votes of minorities. The truth is, Joe’s insincere, but predictable, pandering and his past racially divisive rhetoric disqualify him from being part of the solution.
Given the lack of principle Joe’s exhibited as he caves to the far left of his party on nearly every issue, it makes one wonder where his true sentiments actually lie. He’s been silent on the economic devastation in black neighborhoods wrought by Antifa and Black Lives Matter. He’s said nothing about his concerns over the lost lives of more than 7,000 African Americans killed mostly by other blacks each year. And he continues to oppose more school choice for families stuck in inner city failing school systems.
For many Americans of color, these should be reasons enough to question Joe’s sincerity on issues of race.
The question for Democrats is this. Is a cynic willing to make such crass and obvious panders the very best you could come up with as your choice for president? Don’t be surprised if you don’t get the votes you expect from Americans of color who rightfully question your racial promises.
I just spliced together Joe Biden’s campaign launch ad attacking Trump for his “fine people” comment and Joe Biden himself saying in 1993 that there are “many fine people” who display the confederate flag.
It really is something. pic.twitter.com/RmC5Q0eF4V
