Emery McClendon: America, Is the Cure Worse Than the Disease?

PolitiChicks.comIt seems like the American public has taken a “we want to see for ourselves” attitude when it comes to accepting Democratic Socialism. A key factor that contributes to this mind set is the willingness of many citizens to allow some Governors, the media, unelected political advisors, and the Democratic controlled Congress led by Nancy Pelosi and other far left Representatives to bribe them with largesse, and use that form of bribery to snatch away essential liberties.
It’s amazing how easy it was for many Americans to roll over and submit so easily. After all of the failed examples of Socialism for us to examine all over the world in the past and present.
The latest example was Venezuela. Coupled with what’s going on in China, North Korea, and many other third world nations, Americans should be running at break neck speed toward capitalism, and ditching the models presented to us by AOC, and the Squad, Bernie Sanders, and others.
Americans have recently been the recipients of the greatest rebirth of prosperity in our nation’s history because of a specific turnaround in our economic policies over the past three plus years. America was on the rise once again, and every social class experiencing growth. Employment was at it’s highest level in years. The stock market was soaring, and consumer confidence was high. Then as Forest Gump would say, ” just like that” things begin to change. What happened? How did the Progressives turn our economy, and our attitudes upside down?
Although there are many factors that contributed to this demise that took place right before our eyes, the main cause can be traced back to a slogan coming during the former Presidential Administration. Rahm Emanuel is credited for uttering the phrase, “Never let a good crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before.”
Oh, my, didn’t the Progressives knock that one out of the park! Crisis they had, and take advantage of it, they did. They used a health pandemic known as Covid19 and the Corona Virus to stir up panic, lock us down in our homes, and effectively shut down the country without a single element of resistance. What ever happened to “Don’t Tread On Me”, “We ain’t gonna take it any more”, or the Patriot rallies and protests?
As soon as possible the Pelosi-led U.S.House Of Representatives and the Democrats in the U.S. Senate, led by Chuck Schumer, began to float Bills that grant taxpayer dollars to every cause under the sun under the guise of a stimulus. Most of what they proposed was directly aimed at making Americans depend on the government to survive. It was an attempt to usher in Democratic Socialism 101. Many Americans lost sight of the pandemic and began looking forward to a government handout in the form of a stimulus check of direct deposit, and/or increased unemployment benefits.
Meanwhile, Americans began to witness long lines at grocery stores, hoarding of essential supplies, and shortages reminiscing those of Socialist countries. Who would have ever guessed that a roll of toilet paper would be a treasured commodity in America?
Then came the overreach of several state Governors, and those who saw this pandemic as an opportunity to effect change in our political and economic system. Extended lockdowns, massive closings, and calls for extensive testing and even mandatory vaccines for everyone.
Could it be that they want the cure to effect us more than the disease?
