An Open Letter to President Trump Regarding Benghazi From Sean Smith’s Uncle, Michael Ingmire

CC: Secretary of State, Rex W. Tillerson
Dear President Trump:
My name is Michael Ingmire. I am a musician, writer and activist based in North Carolina. I write this letter in regards to the September 11/12th, 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya. On September 11, 2012, my wife Sharon and I lost our nephew Sean Smith in the terrorist attack on the United States Diplomatic Outpost in Benghazi. It was devastating to our family and the attack remains a dark cloud on our collective history as Americans. The aftermath of the Benghazi attack remains the biggest coverup in American history.
When Sean was killed I became determined to find out exactly what happened to him and to do everything that I could do to see that a bipartisan select committee become established for further investigation. I connected with former Virginia Congressman, Frank Wolf, and sent him a letter of support that he shared as a Dear Colleague letter on the House floor in regards to his push for a Select Committee. Humbly, I was the first family member of any of the victims to push for a Select Committee. I contacted members of Congress, 460 in all, asking for their support in the establishment of an investigative body. On a consistent basis, I have done innumerable interviews on the subject of Benghazi and have written many articles on the subject for publications such as The Daily Caller, Foxnews.com and Politichicks, among others.
The purpose of this letter is to ask for the establishment of a true atmosphere of accountability concerning the crimes committed before, during and after the Benghazi terrorist attack. I gave Sean’s mother, Pat Smith, my word of honor that I would do everything possible to achieve justice for Sean. I remain steadfast in this quest.
June 28, 2017, marks the one year anniversary of the release of the House Select Committee on Benghazi’s final report. Respectively, June 29, 2017 is the one year anniversary of the Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi report, “Betrayal in Benghazi: A Dereliction of Duty.” The House Select Committee’s report failed as it did not address the atmosphere leading up to the attack. The Citizens’ Commission report dealt more effectively with the before, the during and the aftermath of the attack. From hundreds of hours of research, from conversations with the Intelligence community, committee members, government officials, and fellow researchers, I have learned the following information about the Benghazi attacks:
In 2011 the Obama administration actively decided to replace the secular rule of Libyan President, Muammar Qaddafi, with Muslim Brotherhood rule. They also pursued the same purpose in the North African countries of Tunisia and Egypt. Qaddafi had been an ally in the fight against the Global Jihad Movement. But Qaddafi was alarming the European financial market, especially the French, in his desire to establish a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden Dinar. Obviously, this was alarming to the French as it would have replaced the Franc. Qaddafi also wanted to quit selling Libyan oil in U.S. Dollars which French President Nicolas Sarkozy called “a threat to the financial security of the world.”
Qaddafi had a stockpile of 7 billion dollars in gold and silver. Since his murder on October 20, 2011 that stockpile has yet to be found. More than likely it was stolen. Who exactly stole Qaddafi billions is a matter that still needs further investigation. Qaddafi was deposed by insurgent, al-Qa’eda-linked militias that had been given over 400 tons of weapons and material aid by the Obama administration.
President Trump, I respectfully urge you to immediately declassify the August 2010 document, PSD-11. It is a Presidential Study Directive that allegedly explains the shift by the Obama administration from supporting quasi-secular rulers like Qaddafi to placing members of the Muslim Brotherhood into power.
In order to create new policy for that region we have to understand what transpired before and what we need to do to heal the wounds inflicted by the Obama administration’s failed foreign policies. Under your administration, we need to move forward for positive change and cognitive American policy for the North African region. What we had in 2011 was an illegal regime change and an act of war that was not supported or approved by the totality of Congress. We also have a violation of the U.N. Arms embargo against providing weapons to Libya. The Obama White House behaved like “Sons of Anarchy” gun runners.
Crucially, President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton provided aid and comfort to the enemy. For that reason, among others, they are guilty of treason. Treason, like murder, has no statute of limitations. This crime, among the other criminal acts of the Obama administration, needs to be investigated and prosecuted by Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the Justice Department.
Throughout 2012, the Obama Administration deliberately ignored repeated requests by U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens for additional security at the U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi. In fact, the Office of the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, received over 600 requests for additional security from Ambassador Stevens. These requests were consistently ignored by Secretary Clinton. Secretary Clinton actually reduced the amount of U.S. military security leading up to the September 2012 attack. She also used the security service Blue Mountain, a British based company, to hire Libyan locals. They did not vet the local security teams appropriately. In fact, many of the locals hired by Blue Mountain had direct ties to the al-Qa’eda linked group, Ansar al-Sharia.
On the evening of September 11, 2012, the U.S. Diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya came under attack by Islamic terrorists. This lead to the deaths of Ambassador Stevens, the first U.S Ambassador killed in 33 years, and my nephew State Department Information Officer, Sean Smith. The attack continued on the nearby CIA Annex into the early morning hours of September 12th that lead to the deaths of CIA contractors, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. If it was not for the valiant and heroic efforts of the contractors based at the Annex, many more lives would have been lost.
Little direct military assistance was sent during the attack. The forces that were eventually contacted to come to the aid of those attacked were delayed, told to turn back, or told to stand down. Ultimately, the stand down order had to come from the Obama White House.
The ignoring of repeated security requests or the lack of substantive aid sent during the attack leads me to believe that President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were directly guilty of a dereliction of duty. In essence, another form of treason.
For over two weeks after the attack there was a concerted effort to blame the cause of the attack on a sardonic video about the life of Muhammad. This cover-up was lead by the tax payer liars, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, President Obama and Secretary Clinton. The cross departmental cooperation between different agencies of the government all telling the same lies, has lead me to the conclusion that Benghazi is the biggest coverup in the history of America.
The families of the Benghazi victims, as well as the family members of the Extortion 17 and Fast and Furious victims, have been continuously insulted, called liars and have even received actual death threats at times. We have received everything but accountability. As Dr. Martin Luther King stated so eloquently, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” Like Dr. King, I am also a “drum major for justice.”
What I would like to see is the establishment of a Special Prosecutor with a direct focus on the aforementioned crimes. With the exception of the still active, Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi, I have been more than disappointed by the various committees investigating the Benghazi attacks. At best, they have been half measured in their approach and their gathering of actual content.
I would welcome a fulfillment by the Tillerson State Department of the FOIA requests for Benghazi documents as requested by Tom Fitton and Judicial Watch. I would like to see a full disclosure of the requested documents. No redactions. Consider, as a symbolic gesture, fulfilling Judicial Watch’s requests on September 11, 2017.
As former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has violated the Federal Records Keeping Act on countless occasions, it is time to prosecute her to the full extent of the law.
I hope Attorney General Jeff Sessions reads this letter and considers my request. In one of the 2016 Presidential Debates you stated to the America public that if you were President, Hillary Clinton “would be in jail.” When?
When I hear our former President and former Secretary of State advise the American public to “resist” you, I have to balk a bit. As an American patriot, I choose to resist their tyranny. I choose to resist their lawlessness and their failures to uphold our Constitution. Thinking Americans avoid fascism and the subdividing of our freedoms by fascists. As Mrs. Clinton stated, also during the debates, “no one is too big to jail.”
Clinton’s post election speaking tour, as is Obama’s, qualifies as a public embarrassment. Never have I seen more public discontent as communicated by a vastly under informed section of the population. In the aftermath of the 2012 election, after Benghazi, President Obama was still my President. Even if I disrespect the choice of the country, I always have respected the office. I wish some of the protesting voices would embrace a bit of maturity and knowledge within their protest. It is time for communication and to come out of the age of confusion.
In closing, I supported and voted for you as President. I appreciate the policy changes and the legislation that you have passed, as well as the laws and changes that you are trying to enact. My wife, a disabled veteran, is especially appreciative of your recent veterans legislation. My wife and I love your sense of humor when dealing with the fake news media, but wish you would instead use social media to communicate your changes of policy. Consider the concept of not suffering fools gladly. Attention to the narcissist and the self infatuated is like heroin to the junkie. It just adds coins to the coffers of the church of the poisoned mind and the diminished soul. Ignore the irresponsible American media and the New World Order members of Congress. Continue to love and cherish this country. Remember that in the eternal sense of life, the truth always wins.
(Special thanks to Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch and Clare Lopez of the Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi for their assistance with this letter.)
