Media Spin: Rise in Chastity is a Sex Drought

Apparently, there is an epidemic out there: Lack of sex. The Washington Post has dubbed it the Great American Sex Drought. And it is driven mainly by the 18-29 year old age group.
Chaste Americans ages 18 to 29 has doubled over 10 years
The Washington Post is spinning the increase in chastity and abstinence over the last ten years as a very bad thing. The headline sounds the alarm that “the share of Americans not having sex has reached a record high” reporting
The portion of Americans 18 to 29 reporting no sex in the past year more than doubled between 2008 and 2018, to 23 percent.
Jean Twenge, professor of psychology at San Diego State University and author of iGen: Why Today’s Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy – and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood, said in an interview that growing sexlessness among America’s twentysomethings is primarily attributable to partnering up later in life.
“There are more people in their twenties who don’t have a live-in partner,” she said. “So under those circumstances I think less sex is going to happen.”
Good news: Fewer Shack Ups.
Americans in their 30s, 40s and beyond, meanwhile, are much more likely to be married than those in their 20s. These age groups are now considerably more likely to have sex in a given year than their younger peers.
The article reports even more good news:
Young men also are more likely to be living with their parents than young women: In 2014, for instance, 35 percent of men age 18 to 34 were living in their parents’ home, compared with 29 percent of women in that age group.
And who can blame these young men for staying home, saving money, and avoiding sexual temptations entanglements in wake of the Brett Kavanaugh hearing, the Hollywood’s #MeToo movement, and the threat of militant feminism?
Benefits of Chastity
Put another way, Americans are preferring chastity to promiscuity. The Chastity Project explains the benefits of chastity:
When a man is married as a virgin, his divorce rate is 63 percent lower than a non-virgin. For women, it’s 76 percent lower…
The younger a girl is when she becomes sexually active, the more likely she is to experience multiple sexual partners, STDs, out of wedlock pregnancies, depression, abortion, and poverty [according to the] Heritage Foundation…
The odds of divorce are lowest with zero or one premarital partners….
Is Abortion driving a Chastity Revolution?
The sexual revolution of the 1960s is waning, despite the best effort of pro-choice harpies to kill the natural consequences of procreation, and despite Planned Parenthood’s pushing the Pill and the Morning After Plan B to middle school children. And maybe, just maybe more young men have come to realize that sexual abstinence before marriage protects them from false accusations and protects their right to father children within a legally recognized covenant. The right of fathers to protect their offspring from abortion is the next battlefield for life.
Sexual purity, chastity and abstinence until marriage threaten the very existence of Planned Parenthood and the virulent pro-abortion lobby. Less unmarried sex has a direct correlation to fewer abortions. Fewer abortions means less money from the government into the coffers of Planned Parenthood. Is it any wonder their allies in the media spin chastity as a sexual “drought” instead of the good news that it is: a return to self-respect, the dignity of life and the role of intimacy within marriage?
