Brian Bledsoe’s TrendChat with The PolitiChicks & Diante Johnson

This week on TrendChat I talked to a few very special guests.  PolitiChicks owner Ann-Marie Murrell and national spokeswoman Sonya Sasser chatted with me while they were in Charleston, South Carolina on their book tour for Politichicks: A Clarion Call to Political Activism.

We talked about the book and the book tour, and I also shared my gratitude for being a part of Politichicks. Earlier that day, after Ann-Marie, Sonya and Morgan Brittany spoke to a Charleston Republican group they included me in their book signing where I signed my first autograph for my contribution in the new book. That moment (as well this podcast) would not have happened without the Politichicks and for that I am very grateful.

At the time the podcast started the news broke that President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey so we reflected on his hearing the week before. We looked back at some of the recent bills passed by Republicans and how their lack of resolve to pass bold legislation is fueling a growing momentum towards a controversial yet constitutional measure some called Article V Convention or Convention of States.

Thursday’s episode of TrendChat was about two universities that are both centered on race. Harvard announced that they were allowing “Blacks-only” graduation ceremony and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos was soundly booed and disrespected by the crowd while she trying to give the commencement speech at Bethune-Cookman. The situation made me wonder if incidents like this are examples as to why the Republican Party would not fully invest in a long-term engagement in the black community. Hopefully someone like my TrendChat guest, Founder and President of the Black Conservative Federation, Diante Johnson, will play a part in bringing meaningful engagement for the next generation. We talked about his efforts to have real discussion with Black Lives Matter as well as his talk with Richard Spencer at CPAC.

Next week on TrendChat we’ll talk about guns and maybe some Texas politics.

Brian Bledsoe

After years of living in total indifference to world of politics, repenting and believing in Jesus Christ in 2007 radically changed Brian Bledsoe's outlook on life. In early 2008 Brian sought to find a candidate that aligned closest to his new found faith and came to shocking revelation that none of the candidates of the party he blindly voted for the past 8 years matched up with his Christian values. So in 2008 he voted Republican for the first time and hasn't looked back since. Now Brian is a advocate not for party politics but for biblical principles that some would either consider conservative or maybe libertarian because he learned quickly that parties tend to have a problem sticking with their principles. Brian is a U.S. Army Veteran and has been a professional driver since 2005. He travels to volunteer for various organizations and campaigns looking to help in any way he can.
