Hollywood BLOCKS Distribution of “The Gosnell Movie”

It was 2015 and I had just been the keynote speaker at an event in Oklahoma.  The next day my PolitiChicks buddy, Julia Seay, was driving me to the airport when I received a call from movie producer Ann McElhinney.

“Ann-Marie I know you’re in Oklahoma and I need you to come be in my movie right now,” Ann said.  I explained that I was literally on my way to the airport to fly home but she very strongly insisted I stay.  (Have you ever tried turning down a determined Irish lady?  Doesn’t work.) “Let me see if I can rearrange things and I’ll call you back,” I told her.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

As I began explaining to Julia what was happening my phone rang again–this time it was the director of the film, international film and television star, Nick Searcy.  (Yes, all his friends must address him that way.)  “You have to turn around and be in this movie,” Nick said.  So that’s what we did.  Nick met us for lunch and the next day there I was, standing on the steps of the “courthouse” holding a microphone, playing a reporter covering the Gosnell case.  They even gave me a dressing room.

Julia and our friend Brooke McGowan came to the set with me and ended up in the movie, too, very appropriately as “pro-life protesters.”  My friend (and co-star of the film) AlfonZo Rachel was also in the scene right behind me with “Superman” actor Dean Cain.

So here we are over a year later and one of the questions I get asked everywhere I go is, “WHEN will the Gosnell Movie be in theaters?” Following is the answer, and as usual, it’s a problem with “intolerance.”  It looks like it’s going to be up to all of us to make sure it gets distributed.

Filmmakers told Abortion Movie “too controversial”.

Hollywood has long history of releasing Abortion friendly movies.

Pro-life Trump Supporters Not Wanted By Hollywood.

PRODUCERS OF a record breaking crowd-funded abortion movie have accused mainstream Hollywood of a politically-motivated double-standard after distributors refused to release their film.

GOSNELL is a record breaking crowdfunded feature film about one of America’s biggest serial killers. The trial of Dr Kermit Gosnell became a major talking point, because it was virtually unreported by the mainstream media amid allegations that liberal journalists did not want to report anything that shone a negative spotlight on abortion.

Eventually national news outlets were shamed into covering the story after online outrage grew especially fueled by a massive Twitter campaign.

However according to the GOSNELL filmmakers mainstream Hollywood is continuing the coverup.

“Gosnell has scored off the charts at test screenings. It has been overwhelmingly popular with audiences. It broke records in crowdfunding – almost 30,000 people paid for it to be made but Hollywood is ignoring it,” said Phelim McAleer, a Gosnell Movie producer.

Several studios and distributors have told the producers that the film – which covers the abortion doctor’s trial and conviction – is “too controversial.”

However the filmmakers point out that mainstream Hollywood have released several movies and documentaries about abortion in recent years.

“Obvious Child was a romantic comedy where a likeable couple bond over her aborting their child. Grandma – starred veteran actor Lily Tomlin – as a grandmother on a road trip trying to gather together enough money for her granddaughter’s abortion,” said Producer Ann McElhinney.

“These films were nominated for awards and praised by critics for “tackling abortion”. Now the idea that GOSNELL, a film based on a true story – with much of it based on courtroom transcripts – is “too controversial” is laughable. This is continuing the media coverup – they don’t want anything that asks difficult questions about abortion,“ she added.

Veteran filmmaker John Sullivan who co-directed 2016: Obama’s America and lead the distribution of that film is the line producer on GOSNELL and noted, “Studios would typically kill for this type of positive audience reaction and press but its clear there is a different agenda at work. I’ve been here before with 2016: Obama’s America where no studio would take the film yet it went on to make $33.5mm at the box office. That was not a surprise to us but it was a total shock to Hollywood. The studios completely ignore a large segment of the country just like the media did in the election. We released 2016 independently to huge success and if that’s what it takes we’ll do the same here.”

Dr Kermit Gosnel is currently serving three life sentences in Huntington Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania after being convicted of killing several babies born alive and a female patient.

In a 30 year killing spree he is thought to have killed hundreds, perhaps thousands of babies. Gosnell would perform illegal abortions inducing live births and then stab live babies in the back of the neck with scissors.

ABC News described him as “perhaps America’s most prolific serial killer.”

Directed by veteran actor Nick Searcy GOSNELL was shot in Oklahoma last year and stars Dean Cain (young Superman from Lois & Clark).

The Producers say they have been careful not to make the film too horrific – so that it would have the widest possible audience.

“We intentionally made Gosnell PG-13 friendly and there are no graphic images in the movie, as we didn’t want distributors to use that as an excuse,” said McElhinney.

“Test audiences in their feedback have cried and praised the storytelling but also praised the movie Gosnell for its accessibility,” said McElhinney.

McElhinney said Hollywood’s passing on Gosnell and its audience is similar to the mainstream media missing the election of Donald Trump.

“They seem to have learned nothing and don’t seem to understand who their audience is. Almost 30,0000 people have approved of this film in advance – they have paid for it to be made and now Hollywood is slapping them in the face and saying they don’t want them as an audience.”

“Donald Trump was elected on a strong anti-abortion platform. The mainstream media missed the 60 million who supported him – now mainstream Hollywood also wants to ignore this massive audience.”

The Producers are now planning an independent release – aimed at capturing an audience that is mostly ignored by mainstream Hollywood.

“Middle America now have a president that reflects their interests and concerns – we think they will respond positively to the GOSNELL movie,” said McElhinney.

The Producers have written a book based on the Gosnell case. It will be released on January 24th by Regnery Publishing and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Books a Million.

“This is one of the biggest crime sprees in American history. It’s a fascinating story that needs to be known. The book and movie will ensure that the coverup is ended and the truth will be known,” said McAleer.
