If Ya Can’t Beat ‘Em, Self-Identify With ‘Em

There used to be another word for “self-identification” — it was called “pretending.”

Self-Identification political theory is the latest socio-political attack on the Constitution and American morality.  It is, at its core, the tyranny of absurdity, demanding acknowledgement of an intrinsically nonsensical denial of biological reality.

• A boy says he is a girl, joins the girls’ track team, and defeats slower girl sprinters to become state champion.  The Olympics turn a blind eye to this battle of the sexes, allowing boys who claim to be girls to compete without making the ultimate surgical sacrifice to their new mental state.

• A white woman identifies as Native American to beat out non-minority competitors for a coveted teaching job at Harvard.  Another white woman identifies as black to gain political power in the NAACP.

• Your daughter goes into the girls’ toilet only to be confronted by an adult man who self-identifies as a woman at least for the day.  Object to the man’s presence and you may be arrested for committing a “hate crime.”

Gender and race have become malleable to fit a political agenda.  They are no longer fixed, immutable characteristics.

Discrimination laws are likewise mutating from an objective test into a subjective standard more tailored to the Generation Snowflake perspective.  Actionable harassment is increasingly influenced by whether the “victim” perceiving the behavior feels offended.  This erodes the objective “reasonable person” legal standard and undermines the law.

Self-identification allows the victim to invent a cause to exploit a targeted group, an Orwellian double plus good.  Liberals would argue that it is a victimless crime to advance a social agenda.  After all, it only raises awareness of the new identity in traditionally biased venues and breaks those barriers, perhaps even through a radical redefinition of judicial thought (a liberal’s favorite tool).

Not only does the Left demand social acceptance of the self-identification movement, it is enshrining it as a civil right and placing Self-Identifiers on a superior moral pedestal.  Self-identification is a new age virtue. As the Left pushes self-identification absurdity, membership in any traditional minority group is becoming a joke, a false handicap, a phony-balcony special interest badge of honor and no longer worthy of legal protection.  As Self-Identifiers infiltrate these minority groups, traditional legal definitions governing discrimination will necessarily crumble.

This movement cannot be reversed simply with reason, morality, facts, or even the democratic process.  But it can be defeated using an asymmetric approach in the form of Saul Alinsky’s Rule 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”  In other words, overwhelm the system with mass self-identification.

Consider what would happen to a school where the girls’ teams suddenly became overrun with boys who self-identify as girls?  How would the school stop them?  A core tenet of the self-identification movement is that you cannot question the sincerity of the Self-Identifier.  And rationally speaking, how could you?  The essence of Self-Identification Theory is channeling the inner, subjective, fluid “truth” in denial of objective, immutable, biological reality.  This means a school could not apply biology or any other objective measure to challenge boys joining girls’ teams or vise versa.

Imagine further what would happen if every applicant to a college self-identified as a minority.  From a practical standpoint, it would mean no one would get special treatment in admissions, but the larger fallout would be absolute hysteria from traditional minority groups.

In an alphabet culture war between NOW, NAACP and LGBTQ, who wins?  If women’s sports teams became overrun with men, with coveted NCAA scholarships traditionally held for women now grabbed by biologically male self-identifiers, how long before NOW and other feminist groups would hit the breaking point and demand a return to co-ed sanity?  Traditional alliances of the Left would explode as each went to war to protect its own constituencies’ privileged status.   Imagine a  gaggle of aging feminist harpies and a chorus of bombastic black social justice warriors all shrieking “discrimination” and demanding their particular brand of special treatment under the law for once-immutable characteristics.

Moreover, men can flood the job market as women, lesbian, transgenders, in a rainbow of colors. Citing the self-identification parameters, when men are passed over for a given position, they could have legal grounds to sue for sex discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  This is potentially crippling asymmetric legal warfare.

It can happen, but it would require many more Americans to pretend self-identify.  Unlikely today perhaps, but given increasing number of younger people facing years of educational debt in a dismal job market, who can blame intrepid twenty-somethings from using gender and racial self-identification tactics to secure educational and employment advantages?   Olympic athletes, celebrities and politicians do.

Self-identification isn’t just for those transitioning anymore.
