Christian Persecution Continues – And the World Turns Away

No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It’s not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there’ll be
No more turning away?
~ David Gilmour and Anthony Moore
It’s fascinating to see how the world picks and chooses sides when it comes to humanitarian crises. For all of the foundations, think tanks, humanitarian groups filled with so many caring and enlightened individuals and the UN, one would think that all would be peaceful in the world.
So why in an ever multicultural, diverse, enlightened, and progressive global village do we have so many of the oppressed and persecuted ignored while perceived humanitarian outrages draw the world’s attention?
Simply put, they don’t necessarily fit the progressive narrative of the week.
It doesn’t matter that Christians are being continuously persecuted around the Middle East, north and Central Africa and other regions around the world, as long as there is a Homosexual who needs a wedding cake, or a military aged Muslim man needs refuge in the West from Muslim terrorists.
ISIS has consistently targeted women and children in their battle for control in Muslim states around the Middle East and North Africa. Hundreds of thousands of Christians, Yazidis and other minorities have been slaughtered, kidnapped and tortured in nations which have been terrorized by ISIS. According to aid workers, thousands of Yazidi girls and women from Iraq were raped, tortured, forcibly married and enslaved.
The West has been insistent about continuing the mantra that Islam is a peaceful religion and that groups such as ISIS, Al Qaida and other terrorists have perverted or hijacked the religion. In order to prove that narrative as well as trying to prove they’re not Islamophobes, leaders in the west have taken in hundreds of thousands of refugees which the majority of whom are military aged men. Worse, they are taking advantage of the majority of westerners’ ignorance of the Islamic Ideology to feel good by being so tolerant of Islam even if it means submitting to it.
But they can’t feel good if they are reminded of the atrocities committed worldwide by those who follow Islam.
Many of us were horrified at the lack of compassion for European women who were gang raped in multiple European cities over the past year. In most incidents, they were told to keep themselves safe by either not going out alone, or wear something more modest (a burka perhaps?) In some media outlets, it was suggested that the West is not only Islamophic, but xenophobic and nationalistic; that white Western Christians are bigoted fear mongers for spreading the rape stories.
Much of Europe doesn’t seem to care about their own citizens, but by opening their borders to massive invasions, you’d think they’d care a little about the women and children who have hoped to find refuge. Unfortunately, it seems not important enough that Yazidis and Christians, who fled to places like Germany, are now being haunted, and persecuted all over again.
For many of those women and girls who escaped hellacious conditions and young people and children who suffered atrocities, their nightmare hasn’t ended.
People in the west can’t imagine what it’s like to live in fear after being gang raped and abused as slaves, being forced “to push and throw elderly people and whoever talked about the Yezidi religion into the ovens…”, witnessing them dying and others being beheaded.
Westerners refuse to comprehend that allowing thousands of military aged Muslim men as ‘refugees’ which includes ISIS operatives, it’s perpetuating the fear and suffering that genuine refugees have already and are still now experiencing.
It’s not just Yazidis, but a new report put out by the NGO Open Doors documents more than 300 incidents in which Christian refugees in Germany have been physically and sexually assaulted, and threatened with death because of their faith.
According to a recent article from Gatestone Institute, “The study alleges that German authorities and police have deliberately downplayed and even covered up the “taboo issue” of Muslim attacks on Christian refugees, apparently to avoid fueling anti-immigration sentiments.”
According to Open Doors, “Christian refugees from many different countries are trying and failing to find safety in Europe and it is likely that the report only shows the tip of the iceberg. It is clear that many Christian refugees — especially those who are converts to the Christian faith — live in fear of persecution from Muslim refugees who make up the majority of residents in the refugee hostels set up throughout Europe. It is sobering to hear persecuted Christians telling a Western country that they recognize the very same persecution patterns in operation as in their home countries.”
Of course German institutions with close knit ties to the Merkel government dispute these claims, blaming everything from lack of privacy, culture, religious conversions and sectarian hostilities, while not offering any recommendations to help minorities while still importing a majority of military aged Muslim men.
Once again when two or more political causes clash, one must support the one with the most power. Islam must be accommodated, it must be coddled and forbid anyone speaks out or risk suffering another attack from the religion of peace.
While Western progressives are busy making themselves feel better, the world once again turns away from those who really are the weak and the weary.
