At the recent Faith & Freedom Coalition event in Dallas, I asked Senator Rick Santorum his thoughts about Congress’ defunding September 18 vote defunding Planned Parenthood.  He stated we needed to “elect a president who cares about women’s health.”

“86% of the revenue generated by Planned Parenthood comes from abortions. Planned Parenthood isn’t a women’s health clinic, but rather an abortion clinic. If we really care about women’s health, we want to send them to women’s health centers where they can do mammograms, pap smears, and all the other things that are necessary to provide a comprehensive service for women and that’s not Planned Parenthood and that’s why we need to reallocate the money to places where women can get better care.”

Sen. Santorum pointed out his record of working across the aisle on pro-life issues and referred to himself as an “evangelical Catholic.”

When asked how he would handle the situation with Iran, Vladimir Putin, and Israel, Santorum said,

“The strongest thing right now is to have a strong policy, which we do not. We need to articulate what we’re going to do to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, what we’re going to do to stop ISIS, and what we’re going to do to stabilize and create security and stability for and in the Middle East and make those policies very clear. Putin knows boundaries. When you deal with people who want to expand their authority, you set boundaries so they know when they cross those boundaries there’s consequences and the President has not done that.”
