Ted Cruz, Donald Trump Team Up for ‘Anti-Iran Deal’ Rally in DC

Thursday Ted Cruz tweeted the planned rally in Washington DC that was discussed in a mid July meeting with presidential candidate Donald Trump:
Glad @realdonaldtrump accepted my invitation to rally in DC to stop the catastrophic #IranDeal. http://t.co/0Sls2l3b6h

Trump confirmed Thursday that he’s been working with Ted Cruz for a joint appearance at the rally, which is sponsored by Tea Party Patriots, Center for Security Policy, and the Zionist Organization of America.
“We are talking to Ted Cruz, who is a friend of mine and a good guy, about doing something very big over the next two weeks in Washington,” said Trump when interviewed after a South Carolina rally. “It’s essentially a protest against the totally incompetent deal that we’re making with Iran.”
A Cruz spokesperson invited Trump to join him in DC “to call on members of Congress to defeat the catastrophic deal that the Obama Administration has struck with the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The rally is tentatively set for September 9, according to Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America.
Trump has been an open critic of the Iran deal blasting the Obama administration for insisting on the release of prisoners as part of the negotiations. Three Americans are being held hostage in Iran: Amir Hekmati, a dual citizen of Iran and the United States, Pastor Saeed Abedini, Jason Rezaian, a dual American-Iranian citizen who was assigned in Tehran to cover regional affairs. Robert Levinson, who was kidnapped in 2007 from Kish Island off of Iran and is missing. The Iranian government denies being responsible for Levinson’s disappearance.
Ted Cruz also has been a staunch critic of the nuclear deal with Iran. “This deal makes war a certainty,” Cruz warned.
