CO Grassroots Call To Action: Sign Petition Supporting Deb Scheffel For State BOE Chair

PolitiChicks.comGrassroots activists are calling on Colorodans to make their voices heard through a petition in support of Deb Scheffel for the new chair of the Colorado State Board of Education (BOE). A new chair will be elected Wednesday morning at their August meeting.

In wake of the state BOE Chair Marcia Neal’s resignation from the state BOE, activists seek to ensure a public record of their choice for the new chair .

Do you think the economy is better or worse than it was a year ago?

Former PolitiChick Karin Rosarne created the petition and provided this statement:

“In 2011, I was ‘just a mom’ wanting to understand education policy decisions that directly affected my kids and their teachers. And I wasn’t alone. After just one phone call, Deb Scheffel drove out to meet up with me and five other parents on a Wednesday evening and began answering a list of questions on education policy. The following legislative session, the five parents and I went to the state legislature and opposed two bills on the docket which were voted into law. Unbeknown to us, those two bills were to change the direction of Colorado education. They are the foundational structure for Common Core State Standards. Today I have an opportunity to give Dr. Scheffel my endorsement for President for the Colorado State School Board. I am honored to publicly voice my support.

Kathryn Porter is a political watchdog who has served as an elected member of the Colorado GOP State Central Committee and the El Paso County Republican Party Executive Committee. As an illuminator of truth, she was banned as a guest of the 2016 Republican National Convention by then Colorado State Chairman. Following her banishment, she contested the entire 2016 delegation to hold the state party accountable for balloting errors, the disregard of bylaws, and numerous irregularities at the state convention. The 2016 RNC Credentials Committee granted her a convention pass, overruling the former chair's pronouncement. In an RNC report responding to the case she brought before the Committee on Contests, the Colorado Republican Committee was chastized for its "embarassing incompetentence."
