We’re on a Mission: Find One Military Couple for “Operation Love Story”

PolitiChicks.comAre you in the military or know a military hero who deserves a magical day? If so this might be your lucky day!

April Dorsey is a patriot on a mission. She is the owner of a wedding planning business called The Dtales and is currently looking for a deserving military couple to honor by giving a free wedding of their dreams, for up to 50 guests. This will include the ceremony to reception, and everything in between.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

What prompted her to launch “Operation Love Story”, and what is entailed?  “Both of my parents and my grandfather are veterans,” she said.  “The love the veterans have for each other is inspiring. This has honestly been something I have wanted to do for a while.”

Many military members go through long separations; weddings if they happen during service time are often done between deployments or on R&R. Many Military families have given so much in service to our country so April wants to give something back.

“Every princess deserves her Cinderella ball.  Not every bride can afford her dream wedding and we can’t wait for them to take their first dance. This entire Nation is indebted to the sacrifice of every veteran and their family; the least we can do is give one, very deserving couple the wedding of their dreams.”

When asked if anyone is helping in this endeavor April said, “Getting the word out is slow. I am working social media as best I can. I have the wedding part covered, I just need the couple.”   As far as getting sponsors she said, “Sponsorships are coming along slowly and daily.”

Looking on the Operation Love Story website and on their Facebook page, sponsors so far include April’s business, DTales along with Calvet Couture Bridal Boutique, al dee productions , Orlando’s VIP’s Limo Bus, Orange County Regional History Center and Cakery Creation.

While April is busy getting the operation underway, let’s help her with her main focus:  finding her a happy, deserving Military couple.  The rules are simple and the entry process is easy.

To enter, fill out the form on Operation Love Story’s Entry page and upload a short video (three minute or less) telling your story. Include details of military experiences and or life at home waiting for your partner to return, sacrifices made and new struggles you are trying to overcome as a veteran.

The wedding will be downtown Orlando at the Orange County Regional History Center, on November 11, 2016.

DTales will work with the couple and wedding industry professionals who are donating their time and product. The couple will choose a color scheme and overall theme. Professionals will then work with them to design options. The choices will be shared and voted on by those following the wedding planning.

The wedding is estimated at over $30,000 with no out of pocket expenses to the couple (unless they are from out of state and will need to provide their own transportation).

It would be preferable that the couple live close enough to Central Florida for the media to have a few live sessions and participate in discussions with the vendors. The event sponsors are willing to work things through the internet and/phone when possible. Right now, travel expenses would be the responsibility of the winning couple, but maybe there are some generous folks out there who can donate a couple of plane tickets?

The Scheduled Contest will run until August 30th, 2015 and the winning couple will be announced on a later date.  The planning process will begin immediately after announcement.

All in all, this is an excellent idea, and an incredible way to honor someone who has given so much for all of us. Let’s help get the word out and help find a deserving couple to do this for!
