Future of Sex Ed: “Sexuality Education”

Listen up, boys and girls, today we will be speaking about how you’re not boys and girls anymore!
That’s right, it’s wrong to classify gender by just looking at whether there are boy parts or girl parts. Everything is relative, the sky is yellow, the earth is a triangle. Why? It’s not fair to the other colors or shapes to use one particular one in reference to the sky or the earth.
I’ve had some nightmares about the type of sex education children are going to be receiving in school in the future, as they’ve changed the name to sexuality education. For the record, sex ed and sexuality ed are two very different things.
In Fairfax County, Virginia, the school board voted to add “gender identity” as a protected class. They will begin teaching about such things to ensure that no one is discriminating against kids with gender identity issues. One board member voted against this, reasoning that it was an overreach of the federal government. The deputy superintendent had sent a memo prior to the board meeting explaining that federal funding would be pulled if they didn’t adopt the new protected class.
So just what did the other board members vote for in adopting the new guidelines?
Following are some pieces taken directly from the text of the policy, presented by Todd Starnes.
“Students will be provided definitions for sexual orientation terms heterosexuality, homosexuality and bisexuality; and the gender identity term transgender,” the district’s recommendations state. “Emphasis will be placed on recognizing that everyone is experiencing changes and the role of respectful, inclusive language in promoting an environment free of bias and discrimination.”
Eighth graders will be taught that individual identity “occurs over a lifetime and includes the component of sexual orientation and gender identity.”
“Individual identity will also be described as having four parts – biological gender, gender identity (includes transgender), gender role, and sexual orientation (includes heterosexual, bisexual, and homosexual).”
The district will also introduce young teenagers to the “concept that sexuality is a broader spectrum.” By tenth grade, they will be taught that one’s sexuality “develops throughout a lifetime.”
“Emphasis will be placed on an understanding that there is a broader, boundless, and fluid spectrum of sexuality that is developed throughout a lifetime,” the document states. “Sexual orientation and gender identity terms will be discussed with focus on appreciation for individual differences.”
I weep for my children and their children. Up is down and down is up. Lord come quickly.
