A night of looting, rioting and violence in Baltimore left 20 police officers injured, 19 buildings burned to the ground, including a brand new million dollar senior center and a CVS that provided medications for many seniors living in the surrounding area. All of this was caused by a group of young blacks uprising against the police. The rioters are at a point of no return, using social media to gather black youth after school to” purge away” their entire community.
But what is the real cause of the anger that has led rioters to engage in a city of all night chaos and violence? Is it really “police brutality”? What about the real underlying cause of black violence, such as high poverty, the breakdown of families, and unemployment?
A widely circulated video of a “mother of the year” shows a single mother beating some common sense into her son, who she saw on television wearing a ski mask and hoodie and participating in anti-police violence. This mother is one in a thousand who tried to stop her son and she said in follow-up interviews that she didn’t want her son to be the next ‘Freddie Gray.’ It’s a tough job for single mothers to raise a son without a father, and it’s a well-known fact that boys need a father figure, a role model, and someone to “set them straight.”
Perhaps there are other mothers out there who have done the same thing, trying to get their sons out of the chaos–but where are the rest of the mothers or other adults who will stand up for their neighborhood and stop the madness? Depending on the government is no substitute for the future.
Baltimore on Monday responded to rioting while the police were given orders to stand down. CVS pharmacy couldn’t be saved as the looters destroyed the fire hose used to stop the ludicrous arson. The police stood by unable to fulfill their duties of protecting the property. Burning down their own city is a legitimate expression of their First Amendment, according to some of the protesters, expressing rage against what they deem as institutionalized racism and “police brutality.” The Mayor of Baltimore Stephanie Rawlings-Blake wanted to allow the rioters to “exercise the right to free speech and give those who wish to destroy space to do that as well.” She also asked the police to stand back to prevent further tension as the situation only grew worse Monday night. CNN contributor Marc Lamont Hill stated, “This is not a riot, but an uprising in response to African Americans dying in the streets for months, years, decades, centuries due to police terrorism and they shouldn’t be calm tonight for getting upset over the destruction of property over the destruction of black bodies.”
If you are reading this and looking at the news, the situation is a horror and a nightmare. The rioting and destroying of business is not a protest. Throwing stones at law enforcement is inexcusable from these idiotic thugs. The Mayor should really watch what she says on camera for inciting such a dangerous situation in her city. And the commentator should really reevaluate his statement for African Americans have been dying on the streets for years is not due to police but from their own kind.
Crime between black on black is out of control. The city of Baltimore is the 5th highest murder city in the country. 90% of homicide and victims reside in Baltimore where there is a 68% black population. So where is the rage here? More than ever before, Monday’s event has pushed Baltimore decades back. The riots and looting are only hurting their own people and community. But where are the politicians who call most of the shots?
Facts: Every city council member in Baltimore is a Democrat and 9 out of the 15 are Black. The Democrats have controlled the mayor’s seat since 1967. The Police Commissioner is black, the mayor is black, and our own president of the United States is Black. The City has been under Democrat political control, enacting failed liberal policies that have led to this urban community being 30 years behind NYC like Mayor Rudy Giuliani stated. Looking at the facts and the data of the City of Baltimore, we don’t see them shrugging as Black on Black crime is an all time high. The same individuals who are out to destroy their communities doesn’t even know Freddie Gray and would have probably killed him in the streets for something idiotic.
The Baltimore riots led to imitators in New York as protestors flooded the streets Wednesday night without any notice of the actual facts of the Baltimore scenario. They apparently forgot how their protests in December of 2014 inspired an anti-cop agitation, leading to the assassination of two New York police officers.
But that didn’t matter to these protestors as they demonstrated their “solitude” for Baltimore. Police officers aware of the protestors’ plans calmly passed out fliers warning that the protestors will be arrested if traffic is blocked. Going one ear out the other, the protestors took over half of Manhattan neighborhoods, stopping traffic and blocking the entrance to the Holland Tunnel. Shouting, “Hands up, don’t shoot” and “No justice, No peace,” chants that were proven to be completely false after the facts came out. But that didn’t seem to matter to the protestors, lacking even the most basic information and knowledge for their “cause.”
So who does it hurt to block traffic and tunnels to decry the police–the police? No, it hurts the people who were trying to get home from a long day of work. These so called “activist” don’t care. They were there for themselves acting as if the situation affects them personally and they struggle with “ being black” on an everyday basis. They claim the protests was in solidarity, but for whom? Were they protesting for the folks in Baltimore whose business burned, the seniors who lost their senior home, or the baseball stadium that played a game in an empty stadium and vendors losing business? No, the solidarity was with other campus idiots, the ones who flooded the streets since their campus was only a few blocks away.
Looking at photos of the NYC protestors, you can see they were mostly white hipster college kids who all of sudden now care. They treat this so called issue as an extracurricular activity, while shouting and cursing at cops is there cardio tantrum. Holding ‘Black Lives Matter’ posters just to claim they were there, and then posting on social media to show off to their friends back home. Do they even know the real suffering, or are they just tagging along for Facebook likes?
Now organizers of the rally are screaming foul over the arrest for what they called a “heavy-handed” response. They are criticizing the progressive Mayor Bill de Blasio, who nonetheless is letting this all occur in New York stating, “Is this the New York City you promised you would built.” These protestors forget how New York has become one of the safest cities in America in part because of the NYPD. Or did they get brainwashed from President Obama’s statement that “Police need to do some soul searching” or Marc Lamont Hill statement about police terrorism towards blacks?
No, President Obama, officers don’t need to do some soul searching, but you do with your failed liberal policies that have prolonged Baltimore to an unemployment rate of 8.4%. And you as a leader haven’t helped to invest in jobs and economic growth. As for Mr. Hill, your statement is so wrong, but yet you have viewers tuning in listening to your complete utter nonsense. There is no such a thing as police terrorism and as an activist, if you really cared you should work to find ways to change the lifestyle of urban communities which is the real terror causing destruction. Black lives matter, but black jobs also matter, along with black businesses and communities. Leaders not being upset about the violent destruction of an entire community is an incredible injustice to Baltimore.
Focus on the lifestyle choices and behavior that have plagued the cities 30 years or more–these are the real problems. The police are doing the job that they are sworn to do—to protect and serve. So instead of harassing cops and causing tensions, it’s time to stand up and fix what needs to be done. Instead of protesting, activist should come together and work on fixing the plagued communities of blacks where teenagers are dropping out of school, failing to stay employed, “thuggish” lifestyle, and having kids out of wedlock with fathers not claiming their children. Blacks need to fix their root problem and stop blaming cops for their problems. They also need to stop depending on the government to fix their lifestyle. Communities have to do this themselves.
