Debate of the Year in OK: Pro Common Core VS Anti-Common Core Reps!

PolitiChicks.comCommon Core advocates rarely show up to talk about why they like Common Core. Up to now, they have only given pre-packaged shiny brochures of information, and only allow captive audiences whose jobs depend on them liking it. To our shock and delight, Michael Petrilli from the Fordham Institute has taken Jenni White up on her challenge to show up and discuss it. This should be GOOD! You see, the Fordham Institute had at one time compared the states’ current standards with the Common Core standards.

In Oklahoma, they were deemed to be about the same. Then Oklahoma proceeded to call them “higher standards” and spend millions of dollars on implementing common core. (Oh, wait. They’re only standards. How could they cost millions?) Then the Gates Foundation began to be interested in the Fordham institute to the tune of millions of dollars in grants and now the Fordham Institute, with Michael Petrilli as lead soprano, are out singing the praises of Common Core.

This will be held at Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, OK and we would love to have people there from all over. I do apologize for the late notice, but I was completely focused on elections, and then boom, it slipped up on me.

The event will be videotaped and you can participate on Twitter. We need your questions tweeted starting NOW.

From Jenni White:

We are so grateful that OKWU President, the wonderful Dr. Everett Piper will open the event. The event will begin with 7 minute opening statements, followed by four questions created by Mr. Dutcher agreed to by both Mr. Petrilli and I. Following, there will be 2 questions taken from Tweets to Mr. Dutcher (if you would like to submit a question, please Tweet Mr. Dutcher at @brandondutcher), and to close, 2 questions will be taken from members of the audience. So please attend to get YOUR question about common core and how the loss of NCLB waiver is impacting your school answered!
