Restaurant Review: Miguel’s Cocina, San Diego

Visiting San Diego? Take a day trip to Coronado and let Miguel’s serve you right!
Nestled in the historic El Cordova Hotel, Miguel’s Cocina is located in the heart of Coronado Island just one block from the Hotel Del Coronado and beaches. Miguel’s boasts of several dining rooms. Choose from outdoor patio dining to quaint sidewalk seating, where you can watch the summer activities as you enjoy their delicious signature Ultimate Margarita. For those that can’t call their Mexican grandma (like I can) to cook up something truly authentic, like Mole Enchiladas con Pollo; then Miguel’s is a must for all who are visiting the Island. Summers are packed with vacationers and snow birds that call Coronado their second home.
I speak from experience. Going on 4 years as a waitress here at Miguel’s, I love our yearly “regulars” who can’t wait to return to get some of our famous Jalapeno White Sauce. Several of the wait staff have been here for more than 10 years and are well acquainted with the regulars. We all pride ourselves on hospitality and our guests feel the love!
A few personal favorites are the grilled swordfish tacos, tender slow roasted carnitas and the Miguel’s Mariscos! For dessert (if you have any room left) you must try the Churros. Having grown up south of the boarder I know churros. In my opinion Miguel’s churros are better than I can remember as a child.
A few other neat additions are the charging docs available for your cellular device. Running out of juice? Just ask the hostess for a charging doc, then simply check one out while you dine and conveniently charge up your cell phone.
Sundays will soon have $3 all you can drink champagne brunch until 2pm.
Miguel’s can also host your private dinner events. We’ve had beautiful wedding receptions, festive birthday celebrations and company parties.
Next time you’re in the neighborhood, stop by an tell them I sent you and don’t forget to get your churros!
