According to American News and a host of other news’ outlets, Ms. New Ager, Oprah Winfrey, recently made a statement to the BBC which is being labeled as “shocking.” When the BBC interviewer asked her if she thinks the reason people don’t like Obama is because he’s Black, she replied, “There’s no question.”
Why is that “shocking?” A lie yes, but not “shocking.”
Winfrey continued, “There’s a level of disrespect for the office that occurs. And that occurs in some cases because he’s African American. There’s no question about that. And it’s the kind of thing no one ever says, but everybody is thinking.”
Why is that “shocking?” A half truth, but not “shocking.”
“As long as people can be judged by the color of their skin, problem’s not solved,” Winfrey said.
“Shocking?” Not shocking, but truthful for some.
But Winfrey has resolved this problem when she stated, “There are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism,” Oprah said, “and they just have to die.”
Now that is shocking!
There are still a lot of people living who are older than me, but I’m one of the members of the next generation to die, after all those “… older people …” die. It ends there. I was not “… born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism ….” So tell me, Oprah, if the oldest generation dies out and when my generation goes and the subsequent generations go who you say have been “… born and bred and marinated in it …,” are you saying that will solve the race problem?
Who is the biggest racist in our country? Who brought back the wounds that were almost healed after over 230 years? Who is divisive and actively promoting racism?
I worked in the music, television and film industry for 25 plus years, so it seems obvious that I would have Black friends. I do, and the ones I still have are wonderful; some are not my friends anymore. Some of them voted for Obama and accused me of being a bigot and a racist. After over 30 years of friendship? Really?
Whether Obama is half White and half Black, a Mulatto or bi-racial, he is the one responsible (along with Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Oprah Winfrey) for racism rearing its ugly head again–not the Tea Party.
