N.O.W’s Terry O’Neill Arrested at Pro-Immigration Rally

PolitiChicks.comThe news out of Washington D.C. is that the President of the National Organization of Women, Terry O’Neill has been arrested for civil disobedience at a Pro-Immigration rally. O’Neill stated that, “Immigration reform that respects women and families is a feminist issue.” Which is very interesting given that NOW has really never been a supporter of the family.

NOW claimed that “51% of immigrants are women but that only 25% of work visas are given to women.” What they fail to mention is whether or not these women apply for work visas. I am somewhat surprised that NOW did not leap to the next conclusion and say that 100% of the immigrant children are not given a work visa.

Immigration is most certainly in need of an overhaul. Those who try to come to the USA through legal channels have tremendous hoops to jump through. Unfortunately, those who come to the USA through illegal channels have only to cross the Rio Grande or some other stretch of the US border.

Until Republicans and Democrats take the bull by the horns and deal with the immigration problem, we will have to hear from liberal groups like NOW. They will attempt to shape every major policy issue into a feminist fight and interject their brand of liberalism. Conservatives must not allow this National Security issue to become a feminist issue. Conservatives must unite in calling for reform of the immigration system and recognize that removing over 11 million illegals is not a viable policy.

In order to remove so many illegal immigrants law abiding Americans would have to consent to government searches, seizures, and demands for “papers” at every point. Americans would have to accept law enforcement agencies and even National Guard troops kicking down doors in scenarios that would make the Boston Bombing police actions look mild. This is according to US Congressman to South Carolina Mick Mulvaney. Mulvaney spoke at length on this topic at a town hall meeting earlier this summer.
