Calling out the Misinformers of Common Core #OKisOK‏

PolitiChicks.comPro-Common Core Nazis are losing their minds with most states fighting to end Common Core now. Jenni White has just called out Michael Petrilli of the Fordham Institute. Fordham is one of the many groups heavily funded by Bill Gates to push Common Core.

In a quote from Jenni White:

I just called out Michael Petrilli on Twitter to a debate. Last night, Fordham and Petrilli put together this “Embrace The Common Core”. Petrilli is telling other states NOT to be like Oklahoma because we’re in “chaos” after losing the waiver – which we ostensibly lost because of the waiver. MISINFORMATION is MISINFORMATION so I called Petrilli out to a debate here in Oklahoma! What do you think? Should I debate Petrilli? If so, Tweet him and let him know @MichaelPetrilli If some guy from MD is going to call us out, let’s call him right back! Use hashtag ‪#‎OKisok

Let me give a little timeline of what has happened in Oklahoma. Common Core was repealed in Oklahoma on the last day of session, May 23. The Governor finally signed the bill on June 5.

The State School Board, which in Oklahoma is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of Governor Fallin, then sued the OK Legislature claiming the repeal bill was unconstitutional. On June 24, the State School Superintendent Barresi was defeated in the worst defeat in Oklahoma history in a primary with an incumbant. At the June 26 Board meeting, two days after the primary, rather than implement what the repeal bill required of them, Barresi and the Board tabled everything, using their own lawsuit as the excuse. This delayed official instructions for the local school districts. The State School Board was the entity wreaking havoc in our schools by their own actions. The lawsuit basically said that it was legal for the legislature to implement Common Core, but illegal to repeal it. HB3399 had been thoroughly researched and carefully authored by lead authors Representative Jason Nelson and Senator Josh Brecheen, and was found constitutional by the Oklahoma Supreme Court on July 15. Schools in Oklahoma started the first or second week in August.

The bill that repealed Common Core requires that Oklahoma schools use the same standards that had been used previously while new standards are being written. They already had the capability to do that on hand. A competent School Board could have made that correction seamlessly if they had desired. The board in Oklahoma seemed intent on leaving our schools in disarray.

I have it from a reliable source whom I do not have permission to reveal, that the Community College regents were already on board and the University regents were well on their way to reviewing our current, non-Common Core standards and that they were going to be deemed College and Career ready, which would have made Oklahoma compliant for the NCLB waiver. (We can discuss the validity of NCLB and the waiver of it on another day). Arne Duncan revoked our waiver anyway, and the mis-informants started screaming that the sky was falling. If there is any chaos, it has been caused by the proponents of Common Core, not by the repeal of it.

So here we are this week, with all the Gates-funded oligarchists out to mow down local districts, parents and students with another round of misinformation. Well, bring it. Show up and let’s debate it. All the self-proclaimed intellectuals that like to spew their spiel from on high, but they won’t show up to have a public conversation about it with parents that have done research.
So far, millions of dollars have been spent in every state, but parents are still winning. Thank you, Elitists, for going too far. Your rigor has wakened a giant. You can’t have our children, and as a matter of fact, we intend to wrestle them loose from the hold you had before we were paying attention.

So will they show up? Be sure and tweet @Michael Petrilli that #OKisok!
