RATING:  FOUR STARS out of five

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Based on the Marvel Comics superhero team, “Guardians of the Galaxy” is a fun fantasy/action ride for a Saturday afternoon at the movies. Cast includes Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora and Dave Batista as Drax as part of a team of misfits in the galaxy trying to save the universe by capturing an orb (of course an orb, isn’t it always an orb?).

The characters were funny and entertaining, including a wise cracking raccoon and a living tree as the thug with a heart of gold. The bad guy (Lee Pace as Ronan) was more cheesy than chilling, but other bad guys in the film more than made up for it.

A particular favorite and clever part of the film was the theme of 80’s music throughout and the threat of dancing used to save the day (I won’t give away why).

I was appreciative that there wasn’t some hidden message to ignite the liberal masses as I see so often in films made today in Hollywood.

I highly recommend the 3D IMAX experience being that this is what the director (James Gunn) seemed to make the most of. If you want to bring the teens (PG-13) or grandteens and stay awake while watching a movie you both can enjoy, this is the movie for you and I give it a whopping four out of five stars!
