Concerned Veterans for America recently sent an open letter to the VA Conference Committee Members and outlined sensible and important ideas they would like to see implemented by the VA. The letter begins, “CVA believes the final legislation must both aggressively address VA’s systemic problems and shield reforms from VA bureaucratic sabotage.”
They also give a list of four provisions which would help solve problems within the VA including establishing clear, independent, and automatic wait time and geographic standards for seeking private care, establishing enforceable guarantees of timely reimbursement payments to private VA providers, Ensuring that additional VA spending is discretionary, limited, and paid-for and most importantly, ensuring that real accountability is maintained within the system.
Both sides of the political aisle have played politics with our nation’s heroes for far too long. This has got to stop. Its high time politicians stop using our Veterans and troops as political hostages and either work with them to ensure the policy ideas they have given are met or remove governmental control and turn it over to Veterans so they can heal the infected body of the VA.
