From POWs to Men Left Behind: Everything involves Politics

“This is a historic moment for us. Today our enemy for the first time officially recognized our status… It’s better to kidnap one person like Bergdahl than kidnapping hundreds of useless people… It has encouraged our people. Now everybody will work hard to capture such an important bird.” ~Taliban Commander
For all of the scandals that have come out of the Obama administration including trading five high risk terrorists during a time when we are still at war for a soldier who’s platoon mates have said he deserted them- of course all talk seems political, no matter what side it’s coming from.
The Obama administrations actions or inactions of everything from Fast and Furious, spiking the football after Bin Laden’s death, Extortion 17, the so called Arab spring, Benghazi and now more terrorists released is political, because if any other administration (especially one with an (R) after it) had done all of this, plus blatant lawlessness, they’d have faced impeachment and or treason charges brought long before now, and rightfully so.
To Democrats and the Obama administration however, running guns to Mexico and perjuring yourself when asked about it, was Bush’s fault because “he started it.” Incidentally, it’s been three and a half years since Border Agent Brian Terry’s murder and his family still waits for answers from Obama and Holder. Is it political? To those on the left it is, because they have an agenda to push on gun control and illegal immigration. The fact is that some on the right have been keeping this story alive keeps a spot light on the hypocrisy of running guns to Mexican drug cartels to push anti 2nd Amendment gun control laws in the US.
When Osama Bin Laden was taken out, Obama announced to the world that he in fact got the deed done that Bush never accomplished. His boasting was all about him, and that was evident when he gave sensitive documents to Hollywood producer friends to make a movie. The fact is that both Obama and Joe Biden outed SEAL Team 6 as the team who did the job, thereby putting each Team member in extreme danger. Unfortunately for nearly half of the Team, their fears became reality as they died in a helicopter crash, known as Extortion 17 in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011, just a few months after the raid on the OBL compound in Pakistan. Is this political? Ask the families of those heroes who knew their Commander in Chief put a target on them, and who are still waiting for answers to serious questions concerning the circumstances around the ‘accident’.
Ah, spring time in the Arab states. What could be better- especially when you’re a Sunni Muslim knowing the President of the Great Satan has your six. What happened and is still happening in the Middle East from the Arab Spring has not been so political, as many in both political parties in the US have blinders on when it comes to Islam. Of course there are a few who dared to ask questions about the unusually high number of Muslims with ties to the Muslim brotherhood in our government, but those who did were ripped to shreds for it and the political winds continue to favor Islam. But have the events in the Middle East been political? Well, since Bush Lied and People Died– and Obama has Put more Boots on the Ground and Drones in the Skies, you tell me. Not to mention the displacement, beatings, kidnappings and deaths of thousands of Christians and Shia Muslims because of regime changes supported and propped up by Sunni Muslim supporters Obama, Clinton & Company.
This leads to thoughts about one of the most politicized (so far) incident so far from this Administration- Benghazi.
Many folks have written extensively about the events that led up to, happened during and after the attacks in Benghazi, and a handful of republicans have been working on getting the Select Committee to ask serious questions which have yet to be answered. Democrats have been quick to label this as being politicized by republicans, and many progressives have, instead of answering legitimate questions, turn around and ask why there were no inquiries when Consulate and Embassies were attacked under Bush. So yes it’s political, because serious questions still have no answers as to why a US Ambassador was in Benghazi to begin with, why CIA was in Benghazi to begin with, why the immediate cover up, which began as the attacks were happening. Why blame it on something that wasn’t true, why talking points were changed as the attack was happening- why was Obama talking about You Tube while 2 Navy SEALs were fighting to their deaths with no help? Why the lie was perpetuated for weeks afterwards, and why did the Obama administration apologize to Muslims when Muslims murdered the US Ambassador, his aide and 2 Navy SEALs?
It’s political because democrats lied about it from the start, continued to cover up and have never seriously attempted to hold anyone accountable. Republicans have been painted as ‘witch hunt(ers)’ and creating phony scandals. So yeah, I guess it just may be a bit political. Too bad for parents like Pat Smith and Charles Woods and the other family members, especially when they had their time to testify before the committee during hearings and every democrat there got up and left.
I was reminded of this a few days ago by an online friend, from one of the blogs I read on occasion. “Obama Sympathizes with America’s Enemies – At a time when we need a leader who puts America first, we instead get an occupant who puts everyone but America first. If Obama won’t put America first, then we need to put America first by rejecting his policies and fighting for those that put America first.” From Daniel Greenfield at Sultan Kish Blog in January 2009
Unfortunately not only was the sympathizer reelected because people didn’t have a clue about Benghazi, or believed the mainstream Obama media claims that republicans were just being petty and political, but since 2009, the Administration has done more damage to our nation, to our military and sided with, given aid and comfort to, and chosen sides with sworn enemies or those with ties to enemies of the United States, and neither House has done anything about it.
This brings me to this situation with Bowe Bergdahl and the Taliban trade. I will go into more detail on these points in following articles, but for now, to recap a few points that people may be aware of, but maybe have not quite really thought about.
Obama campaigned on closing Gitmo. The fact that Gitmo still houses terrorists has been a thorn in the administrations’ side from the get go, and Obama, Holder and progressive lawyers have been scrambling for 5 years to get them either released or charged in civilian courts, since day one. Most Americans at least have enough sense to not want terrorists tried in court in their cities, nor do they want terrorists who were caught on the battlefields of war housed in prisons in the US. Most Americans still have enough sense to know that during a time of war, one does not try war criminals in a civilian court.
So there has to be another way. Obama has had 5 years to work on a release or re capture Bowe Bergdahl from his captors. This war, on whatever you want to call it, is a Holy War in the eyes of those who have waged it on us. They have displayed their hatred and ideological contempt not just on fellow Muslims and Christians all over the world, but especially for Israel and the United States. They have beheaded and dragged Americans through city streets burned their bodies and hung them from a bridge for all to see. They have taken Americans hostage before; they will not hesitate to do it again. While not all American Hostages have met the same fate as Daniel Pearl and others, the fact is, those who have been rescued most likely would have met the same fate- unless there was a deal made behind the scenes, as this case with Bowe Bergdahl may have been.
The Administration had legitimate chances before, months and years, to get Bowe back, but didn’t. Now due to vague claims about his health, rumors that he’d be murdered (which by all accounts would have happened the day he was found, if his capture had have been a legitimate capture) all of a sudden, in a rush to do something, without the 30 day required Congressional approval, the DOD instead consulted with the DOJ. The day Special Forces went by helicopter to meet with the Taliban to get him, could have been a deadly day- and while I thank God things turned out the way they did, the fact is, using a helicopter to fly into a Taliban held spot, when they could have shot them down as they have before, makes me furious that Obama put our forces in such a heightened dangerous position.
This seems more like a politically motivated stunt, just as Obama has done before, to take the focus off the latest issues, which are the atrocious and despicable acts by some in the VA concerning Veterans and the fact that when Obama went to Afghanistan for a ‘surprise’ visit to our troops, which only lasted a few hours, the CIAs Kabul, Afghanistan Station Chief was outed to the press.
This stunt has given aid and comfort to the enemy, as the quote at the top of this article was given by a Taliban commander to a TIME reporter shows. Not all see it this way however, as Secretary of State John “I Served in Vietnam” Kerry had this to say to CNN when asked about threats to our troops:
“First of all, propaganda is propaganda, and they’ll say whatever they want to stir the waters so people should not be lured in by their propaganda number one. Number two, we are ending our combat role. Our combat role in Afghanistan is over. We’re going to have very few people in that kind of position on occasion… where… But I, I honestly, I just think that’s a lot of baloney, truthfully. And to whatever degree it may be true, they will wind up putting themselves at the mercy of those people who are very effective, who are there, who will deal with those matters.”
It may very well be propaganda, but there are a few facts that Kerry doesn’t want to admit here. First of all, they will say whatever they want- but the Obama administration gave them that right when they gave them 5 of their commanders back during a time of war; which the Obama administration claim is over. I seem to recall another claim- something about Al Qaida being on the run and no longer a threat. Excuse me, Mr. Secretary; tell that to the people in Iraq who are suffering the most attacks since the lead up to the surge in Iraq- you know, the surge many democrats said would never work. Thanks to the Obama Administration announcing the draw down and claiming the end of that war, terrorists have retaken cities that our Troops had liberated for the Iraqi people; cities that our troops died to liberate.
This war is not over. The Obama administration and our government can claim that as much as they want to, but it’s not over to those who started it. Not by a long shot. Thanks to the actions of this Administration once again, they have put Americans- our military and civilians, at risk for more attacks, and politics should have nothing to do with that.
