Delay, Divert, Deny—How the Obama Administration Handles Scandals

There must be a handbook somewhere in a White House drawer entitled “Manual to Handle Scandal” and it must lay out a plan that this administration is following verbatim. It is becoming pretty obvious that they pull out this playbook whenever they are confronted with an explosive allegation or when a whistle-blower steps forward and opens Pandora’s Box. Their immediate reaction is always the same, follow the three “D”’s; delay, divert, deny. I finally figured out what the “D” in Democrat stands for – Deception. Oh, except for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Here, “D” stands for “delusional” after her comments in an interview with Ezra Klein where she talks about how the rollout and implementation of Obamacare is “beautiful”. Huh? Maybe it’s just me, but I think she just crossed over into….The Twilight Zone.
The scandals for this White House are multiplying by the day but it seems that whether it is gun running (“Fast and Furious”), the IRS targeting, Benghazi, the NSA spying, the Veterans Administration, Obamacare or whatever, this administration responds in exactly the same way.
Their first response is to feign ignorance, they don’t know anything. Obama always says that he heard about it when we all did, on the news. Even though we have video tape of him back in 2009 discussing the extreme problems with the VA, he didn’t know anything about it! He didn’t know anything about Benghazi except that the violence was caused by a disgusting video. Neither he nor Hillary Clinton knew anything about what happened that night. In fact, our President wasn’t even concerned enough to be in the situation room when it was going down! He didn’t know anything about the Obamacare rollout or that you wouldn’t be able to keep your doctor or insurance. He was as surprised as everyone else when he heard that. Deny everything is the motto. How can he be responsible if he didn’t know?
Their second response is to be terribly concerned. Obama is always going to get to the bottom of this. He is going to find the people responsible and bring them to justice. Really? We’re still waiting. Every single one of these scandals is absolutely unacceptable to Obama and this White House, yet they do nothing about them. They say that they are going to form committees and investigate, yet they stonewall every investigation, delay the release of documents, give cover to those pleading the fifth amendment and then after they have dragged their feet for so long that the American people are bored, they blatantly come out and say that “there is nothing to see here….not a smidgen of corruption” or “Dude, that was like…two years ago.” Pardon me, but my head is about to explode.
How is it that AG Eric Holder is given the job of investigating Eric Holder for the “Fast and Furious” scandal? I’m sure he’s on top of that one. And who in their right mind thinks that a major donor to the Obama campaign and the Democrat party will ever investigate and get to the bottom of the IRS scandal? Now that Shinseki has resigned from his job as head of the VA, is it all ok now? Do they think that the American people feel that Shinseki was the problem and now it’s solved? I didn’t once hear Obama say anything about the corruption within the VA and the bonuses that were paid out to administrators trying to look good. Zip, zero, nada.
There is no outrage, no anger coming from Obama about any of these scandals. Sure, initially he stands up and gives a stern statement, but then what? Nothing. If he cared about any of these injustices he would be slamming his fist on the desk and demanding answers. He would do what President Bush did when we were attacked on 9/11. He should stand up and say that we are coming after you, all of you, who killed our men in Benghazi, targeted American citizens for their political views, let our veterans suffer and die from neglect and on and on.But no, I just hear crickets. They delay answering questions, drag their feet supplying information in the hope that it will all go away. They divert our attention by creating false scenarios and political lies to muddy the waters so that we become frustrated and give up.
Up until the VA scandal, none of this seemed to bother them. The whole attitude of the administration was “What difference does it make?” They probably were unconcerned because they knew that the media was in their pocket and they could manipulate the story any way that they wanted and the salivating reporters would do their bidding. But it looks like this time they have really stepped in it and outrage over the treatment of our vets is bubbling up within the ranks of the Democrat party and the mainstream media.
