Molotov Mitchell: Advancing the Cause of Liberty in North Carolina

Progressives and mainstream media pundits often portray the GOP as the old “fuddy duddy” party full of walking canes and outdated, archaic views. However, their myth falls apart as soon as Republican candidates like Molotov Mitchell walk into the room.
Thirty-five year old Mitchell and his wife own their own production company, Illuminati Pictures, in the Raleigh, NC area. Not only a successful business owner, Mitchell is also a charismatic Internet provocateur, Krav Maga expert, firearms instructor, certified concealed carry handgun instructor, and a loving father of a two-year old.
Inspired by the selfless and heroic efforts of the North Carolina GOP (at the state and local level), Mitchell has recently announced his bid for the North Carolina District 16 Senate seat, challenging Democrat Josh Stein in the general election.
His “catchy” campaign slogan: Liberation of District 16 is under way!– certainly captures the Youth’s attention, that’s for sure.
Mitchell does acknowledge that he has an uphill battle for the NC Senate seat. However, he has already won the support of many North Carolina Republicans and has been endorsed by NC Senators Neal Hunt and Thom Goolsby, as well as former Miss North Carolina Brittany York. Mitchell also has a huge following of supporters across the nation, thanks to his viral videos that have reached millions of viewers.
In an EXCLUSIVE interview, Mitchell spoke to PolitiChicks about his transformation from being a hard-core punk rocker into a Christian Conservative. He also explained how his experience of being (voluntarily) homeless for a year had profoundly impacted his spiritual and political views.
PC: You are a successful businessman. Tell us about that:
MM: My wife and I decided to skip college because we realized that higher education is not as good of deal today as it was for generations in the past. The return on investment is not very high for most people. More importantly, you can’t get those years back. You not only go into debt, you lose your youth, you lose a lot of vigor. So we decided to strike out on our own and start a company to the old fashioned American way. We started a media company and we are on our eleventh year now. It’s been very successful. We’ve made some films, award winners. We’ve done a lot of commercials. We’ve done political communication strategy work. We’ve been able to reach tens of millions of viewers with our different viral videos.
PC: What is Krav Maga all about?
MM: In Hebrew, it means: “contact combat”. I love Krav Maga. I have been doing Krav Maga for years and I’m a black belt. I’m also certified in force training, which means I am authorized to teach police and military tactics. I’ve taught special ops units and I’ve taught in other countries around the world. Just this year, I’m going to teach rape prevention to women in Moldova where human trafficking is taking its toll.
Krav Maga was actually created by Imi Litchenfeld to fight the Nazis… It is a fighting system. It’s not a martial art. There’s no muttering, hand gestures, incantations or acting like an animal. We are rather savage. Krav Maga is the most savage fighting system in the world. It is the fastest way to end a fight.
PC: What made you decide to challenge Josh Stein for this District 16 NC Senate seat, anyway?
MM: Josh Stein has been the senator of my district for the past six years, and for multiple election cycles, he’s run unopposed. He’s the minority whip for the Democrats. While I’m watching the Republicans stage the “Carolina Comeback,” the greatest thing to happen to this state in over a hundred years–As I’m watching unemployment plummet, as I’m watching companies move here, as I’m watching us having a better tax environment, as I’m watching our freedoms expand, I’m having to hear this guy, my senator (Josh Stein), stand up and attack the Republicans, call them “racists,” and suggest that they are somehow undermining everything good about this state…
I spoke to some of my friends, and people have been asking me to jump into politics for years but never felt like the timing was right until now… So, I spoke with my pastor, I spoke with my wife, and everybody agreed that this guy (Josh Stein), needs to be challenged.
PC: In the Liberation of District 16, how do you plan to shake things up?
MM: I believe that when I’m elected, we will be able to advance to cause of liberty in this state tenfold. If we can take the capital city back, it’s not only going to make a big difference in strengthening the Republican voice in the Senate, it’s also going to a decisive symbolic blow to the Statists that are trying to oppress the rest of the state. Here are the things I’m going to do if I’m elected.
Number One: I’m going to investigate the NSA’s spy facilities that have been set up in my district. They chose to set up NSA in Raleigh at NC State’s campus. A lot of people don’t know about this. . I want to find out what they are doing in there. If they are spying on us, they need to be removed. They did pay 61 million dollars to NC State for permission to break ground there. People’s privacy, their Fourth Amendment Constitutional rights are not for sale. So they are going to have to take a hike if Molotov Mitchell gets into office.
Number Two: Is Jobs. Taxes are extremely complicated and they shouldn’t be. They should be simplified, and obviously, they should be reduced. District 16 has a very large economy. It definitely deserves a voice…
When I’m elected, the first thing I’m going to do is work with the Republican majority to simplify and reduce taxes. We can continue to bring more businesses this year. I’m not satisfied with sitting at number 17 on the Tax Foundation’s ‘Tax Environment List’. We need to keep pushing for Number One. As we do that, more companies will move in, which means more jobs.
Number Three is Obamacare. My opponent is trying to expand Obamacare through Medicaid at the local level… Obamacare is a train wreck– It needs to be fixed. It needs to be repealed. That’s really a job that needs to be done at the federal level. But at the same time, I’m going to make sure that it does not expand, but that it is contained at the local level until they can deal with it.
PC: How do you feel about the Fair Tax or a flat tax?
MM: The truth is, that whatever can simplify and reduce the tyrannical theft of American citizens, I’m all for it. So, I’m an “any” or “all” advocate, whatever we can do to throw off the shackles of taxation.
PC: As a private business owner yourself, what do you think about the Hobby Lobby case that is now being presented at the Supreme Court?
MM: It’s outrageous any company should have to pay for something they find is morally reprehensible or ethically unsound. If they don’t believe in contraception, the government should not be forcing them to violate their religious principles. Religious freedom is number one.
Hobby is on the right side of history and on the right side of the Constitution. I think they are going to be vindicated.
PC: Where do you stand on the Second Amendment?
MM: I’m not only a Krav Maga instructor. I’m also a firearms instructor. I’m also certified as a concealed carry handgun instructor. I believe that the right to bear arms is the right that guarantees all other rights. No question–I’m the most staunch pro-Second Amendment advocate in this state. People should have their guns and have them as they like. I also support Constitutional Carry…
It’s not that I just think that people should be able to have guns, it’s that our Founding Fathers literally died fighting for the right people have to have those guns.
PC: With the ‘Rules of Engagement’ implemented under Obama, many of our troops feel like the administration doesn’t give a damn about them. What are your views on this issue?
MM: I’m pretty passionate about this subject. North Carolina is the most military friendly state. To tamper with the military ‘rules of engagement’ is in one sense, very typical of this administration and at the same time, equally disappointing. To tie the hands of the people who are fighting on our behalf is egregious. It’s deadly for the people who are out there fighting. When you are fighting for your life, the last thing you want to be doing is be thinking about whether Obama would approve of using this tactic to stay alive…
For me, when it comes to combat, I really don’t like the idea of bureaucrats dictating rules of engagement. The military knows what they are doing– let them do their jobs.
Unfortunately, the military has become a giant social experiment for this administration. It’s disheartening and people’s lives are being lost.
PC: You’ve already been labeled as an “anti-gay bigot” by certain media outlets. What is your response to that?
MM: I’m not anti-gay. Of course, as a Christian, I have personal religious views about homosexuality and gay marriage but in no way does that cause any animus toward the LGBT community. It has absolutely no bearing on how I would treat people in the LGBT community. Ultimately, by bringing up this type of kind of smear, they are suggesting that I would somehow demonize or target LGBT constituents if I were elected which is just not the case. I love the homosexual community just like I love everyone, even the political hacks that smear me on my opponent’s behalf.
PC: We’ve been watching the battle between Establishment Republicans and Tea Party Conservatives lately. What do you think needs to happen for everyone to come together before the 2014 and 2016 elections?
MM: I love the Tea Party. They are grass roots, Constitution-loving group of people. I also love the Republican Party. It’s the party that fought to end slavery and continues to fight for justice and equality…I think that if the Tea Party can focus on the people in their communities and focus on the local level, I think they could find more common than they imagined. I know I was personally more inspired to get involved at the local and state level. I was won over by the heroic efforts and accomplishments of the North Carolina GOP, fighting for the cause of liberty.
PC: Is there anything else you think our readers should know about you or about your campaign?
MM: Yes. Go to NC2014.com and sign up for our newsletter and donate. We need donations to run this kind of campaign. We are taking on the biggest Democrat in North Carolina, Josh Stein… If we can take him off his throne, we’ll do tremendous good for North Carolina, which means we’ll do tremendous good the nation as a whole.
