Kirsten Dunst Under Attack After Taking Traditional Stance on Gender Roles

Spider Man star Kirsten Dunst’s, 31, stirred up controversy with her comments on gender roles in the May issue of Harpers Bazaar.
Dunst talks about an important topic, the value of femininity. Feminists are so focused on “equality” we stop valuing who we are as women.
As a young woman, it is so refreshing to see someone stand up and say that it’s okay to have a “girly” side. We put so much pressure on our young girls to do it all; be the perfect mom & wife while climbing the ladders at work. Yet we tell guys that it is okay for them to be stay-at-home dads while their wives do all the work. Marriage is an equal partnership and you need both the man and woman to be equal contributors.
I applaud Kirsten Dunst for her bold stance and I hope you will stand behind her too!
“I feel like the feminine has been a little undervalued,” she says. “We all have to get our own jobs and make our own money, but staying at home, nurturing, being the mother, cooking – it’s a valuable thing my mum created. And sometimes, you need your knight in shining armor. I’m sorry. You need a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman. That’s why relationships work…”
