Dunst talks about an important topic, the value of femininity. Feminists are so focused on “equality” we stop valuing who we are as women.
As a young woman, it is so refreshing to see someone stand up and say that it’s okay to have a “girly” side. We put so much pressure on our young girls to do it all; be the perfect mom & wife while climbing the ladders at work. Yet we tell guys that it is okay for them to be stay-at-home dads while their wives do all the work. Marriage is an equal partnership and you need both the man and woman to be equal contributors.
I applaud Kirsten Dunst for her bold stance and I hope you will stand behind her too!
“I feel like the feminine has been a little undervalued,” she says. “We all have to get our own jobs and make our own money, but staying at home, nurturing, being the mother, cooking – it’s a valuable thing my mum created. And sometimes, you need your knight in shining armor. I’m sorry. You need a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman. That’s why relationships work…”
