Girl Scout Cookies? No thanks.

Screen Shot 2014-04-09 at 11.54.46 AMFor a couple of years now I have been hearing chatter that Girl Scouts were somehow linked to the dreaded Planned Parenthood organization, and several PolitiChicks articles have been written about it.  Being a yearly consumer of the infamous Girl Scout cookie I did not want this rumor to be true.

Just this very year I bought three boxes of lemon Savannah Smiles, before I decided to research the subject for myself.  Now I can say with ease that The Girl Scouts got their very last penny from many people I know (myself included).

The main reason we’re giving up the cookies is because Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA) is a member of WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts).  There are 145 WAGGGS organizations around the world and Girl Scouts is the largest member organization. GSUSA has a fiduciary relationship with WAGGGS. GSUSA pays money into WAGGGS. In 2007, for instance, the Girl Scouts USA made a $1.8 million payment to WAGGGS.

Now about WAGGGS…You can go directly to their website and see for yourself but here a few activities they are involved in.

WAGGGS invites Girl Scout councils and girls to be delegates to lobby for “sexual and reproductive rights” at United Nations events such as:

  • The Commission on the Status of Women

  • UN Climate Change Conference (the message here is sexual and reproductive rights play an important part in climate change.)

  • UN Global Youth Forum

  • Global Youth Forum sounds harmless enough…but this is no World Youth Day. The Outcome Document from the 2013 Global Youth Forum, held in Bali, calls for:

  • Abortion on demand

  • Contraception

  • Sexual rights for all young people  regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity

  • Elimination of parental consent laws (where a minor girl notifies a parent before an abortion)

  • Sexuality education that is “free of religious intolerance.”

  • Decriminalization of prostitution (which they call “sex work”)

There is a group of Pro-Life ex Girl Scout mothers and they have organized to provide documents for those individuals that seek out information about Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) and World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).  The documents clarify the reality of just how interconnected the Girl Scouts are to Planned Parenthood.  Planned Parenthood promotes the legal but immoral practice of abortion not to mention the liberal, toxic, and twisted view of young girls and their developing sexuality.

As one reads through these statements of fact it is clear that “there is a long history of local councils working with Planned Parenthood.  Documented examples go back as far as 1972 and through 2013.”

I would imagine that the Girl Scouts are on to us now.  They realize the conservative and Pro-Life movement is paying attention to the cookie money trail and is concerned about fallout from a “cookiecot”.   They will carefully try and cover their tracks, which was the purpose of the USA CEO of Girl Scouts, Anna Maria Chavez and her deceitful video in which she adamantly states “we do not now, nor have we ever had a relationship with Planned Parenthood.”

Looking at WAGGGS financial statement for the year 2012 you will see that they received:

$          2,782,848.04 for Quota fees that are based on annual membership into the Girl Scouts

$             224,681.23 for World Thinking Day collected by the Girl Scouts

$     400,000,000.00 of cookie sale money (about 790 million from Scout councils to WAGGGS)

There are also regional Girl Scout donations to the World Foundation for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (cookie money).  So obviously the Girl Scouts do give money and lots of it, to a group that is diametrically opposed to being pro-life and pro-female, despite their flimsy smoke screen.

Aside from their stance on abortion, there are more than enough personal stories of families removing their daughters from Girl Scouts because of their drive towards feminism.  And considering that little girls enter the Girl scouts as a Daisy at five years of age, it is very disturbing to think of the power and influence they can have, that goes unchecked because people assume the GSUSA are on the up and up.

At a National level the Girl Scouts can easily be considered radical feminists when you consider the following political facts.

In January of this year the Girl Scouts honored late term abortion advocate and gubernatorial candidate of Texas, Wendy Davis and named her as one of their “incredible women of the year”.  She is also the woman who filibustered a Texas bill that was proposing to ban abortions after twenty weeks. The Girl Scouts have long been allies of Planned Parenthood but have been feeling the heat as of late because Breibart news recently exposed another slimy individual by the name of Josh Ackley who is a prominent blogger and important link between Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood.

“In fact, it was Mr. Ackley who facilitated the Girl Scouts’ “no adults allowed” workshop at the United Nations – the workshop in which the Planned Parenthood sex brochure “Healthy, Happy, and Hot” was offered, although part of Mr. Ackley’s job is to deny it. It wouldn’t be a surprise if someone like Mr. Ackley was behind the Girl Scouts’ recent scandal: a guidebook that tells girls to check with the leftist, George Soros-funded Media Matters before believing what they read in the news.”

In closing I truly wonder how many of the little girls who go out and sell scout cookies know the honest facts of where their hard earned money is going.  I see Girl Scout mothers dragging their daughters to stand in front of grocery stores and movie theaters to solicit their sweet treats every spring.  But do they have any idea of what their money and time is invested in?  Do these young women dressed in green realize that the club they pledge to each week is funding an organization that has a curriculum that promotes the killing of unborn children and sexualizes little girls?

This year Katie Francis of Oklahoma City broke the Girl Scouts cookie sale record by selling 18,107 boxes in their seven-week cookie campaign.

Someone should be responsible and tell little Katie exactly what this means.
