No Resolution for Justina Pelletier, No Freedom

The Gladstone quote, “Justice delayed is justice denied” can be no more apt than today for Justina Pelletier, the teen who was removed from her parents care and custody over a year ago, as she is still disallowed to return to the family no matter a court decision was to be made yesterday. With no further explanation of a reason for further delay, Judge Joseph Johnson announced he would be ruling on the custody of Justina on Friday instead. Last month, in what appeared to be good news for her both physically and emotionally, Justina’s care was to be reassumed by her original physicians at Tuft’s Medical Center, but now we’ve learned that Justina is still being held at the non-medical Framingham facility in Massachusetts. She continues not to receive the treatments and care necessary to the point she had to be taken to the hospital emergency room because her parents observed the signs of infection on her abdomen, not the attendants at Framingham nor the DFC observers who continue to be a constant presence when the Pelletiers visit with their daughter.
Why the delay when this March ruling was set to be issued over a month ago? Why have not the doctors from Tufts resumed the care of Justina when this was agreed to in that same hearing? Why is this girl still in Massachusetts and not back in her home state of Connecticut? Why are people who purport and actually boast that they only have the health and well being of Justina as their main concern delaying and denying her that very thing with the on-going continuations rather than making the reasonable and timely ruling? Just how long do these judges and so-called children’s advocates plan to take before they allow Justina Pelletier the chance to actually recover her health? As of right now, there is no justice for Justina Pelletier.
