Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin is Pushing Common Core in All States #dontCoremeGov
Governor Mary Fallin, powerful Chair of the National Governors Association, is calling all the shots in the OK State Senate like a dictator. By her position and her actions, she is also leading the way for all the Governors in every state to use the same strong arm methods to keep constituents out of their way while they implement the largest intrusion of the Federal Government yet… aimed straight at our children. The NGA owns the copyright, so that states cannot change them, and a liability waiver on the standards so when they mess up your kids, states can’t sue them. She claims to be conservative.
Even when our grassroots group of 400+ people (one reporter estimated 1000), led by Restore Oklahoma Public Education plus other Stop Common Core groups across the state, visited the Oklahoma State Capitol the Senate hasn’t budged. The Senate Ed Chair John Ford, backed by the Governor and the Senate President Bingman, still refuses to even hear our bill to repeal or pause Common Core in spite of the Republican National Committee platform, the OKGOP platform and a recent additional resolution by the OKGOP to Stop Common Core. They also claim to be conservative.
One teacher stopped by Sen. Jolley’s office, and after being waved away by his Executive Assistant saying:
“We already have information on Common Core” Donita said to her, “You do NOT have my information. I am an expert on early childhood education and have 30 years’ experience in that field. Common Core is age inappropriate, and you have no idea the damage you are responsible for doing to the children.”
