Despite Name Changes, It's STILL COMMON CORE

What name has YOUR state chosen to re-name Common Core? If this wasn’t so insulting, it would be hilarious! On the very same day Oklahoma changed their name to Oklahoma Academic Standards, Alabama and Colorado changed theirs to AL Academic Standards and CO Academic Standards, and miraculously these “state-led” initiatives all came up with almost identical slogans and brochures. Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has high hopes of acquiring more power in the future, and as Chair of the National Governors Association (a privately-funded organization making policy decisions in states), she is spending Bill Gates’ money right and left to make sure ALL the Governors stay on board with Common Core…. SO please join us in letting Gov. Fallin know that she has overstepped her bounds in OK, and as Chair of the NGA she is overstepping her bounds nation-wide. We are sending her tweets and fb messages from all over the country saying #dontcoremeGov – OK (or whatever your state is). The earthquakes and tornadoes in Oklahoma are very indicative of what is going on in our State Legislature right now. The RNC and the OKGOP platforms BOTH say #stopcommoncore, to which our Rep. majority Senate and our Gov. have both proclaimed that they refuse to hear bills that will Stop — or even examine — Common Core… or Oklahoma Academic Standards.. If we can stop it in OK, we can make this whole mountain crumble. Join us!
From Jenni White of Restore Oklahoma Public Education:
When Lynn told Governor Fallin yesterday that we didn’t want Common Core in Oklahoma, she responded that she didn’t either, which is why Oklahoma has the Oklahoma Academic Standards. The only problem is, that like what has happened in other states, the Common Core State Standards for Math and English/LA were adopted (they had to be – it’s state law!) but given a DIFFERENT name! Please, let the Governor know that she is WRONG! We DO have Common Core!
