Wendy Davis Proudly Carrying the Liberal Torch

The race for Governor in Texas is heating up, but not the way Wendy Davis would like. Davis was catapulted to fame when she donned sneakers and filibustered the House in Houston against efforts by Governor Rick Perry to make abortion after 20 weeks illegal. Her attempts failed, but to the Democratic Machine she became the new face of the Party when she announced her run for Governor against challenger Attorney General Greg Abbott.
Recently, Davis has been caught embellishing her story as a single parent in an attempt to connect with women and younger voters. What she forgot is the old saying, “Be sure your sins will find you out” because they certainly did.
Davis was 21 years old when she divorced, not 19. And although technically she was a “single mother”, she sent her children live with their father when she went back to school. Her uber-generous ex-husband (her second, by the way) paid for her tuition to Harvard Law School. Because she had full custody of her daughters, she wasn’t supposed to publicly admit they didn’t live with her.
Davis’ defense for her exaggerated biography was that she needed to “tighten up her language” (whatever that means). However, the real Wendy Davis sounded more like a woman who didn’t want to be bothered with raising children but instead wanted to focus on her career. In this case, it is a blessing the father was willing and able to raise their children, but had Davis been a male Republican candidate who abandoned his children for a career, you better believe the media would not have been silent!
Liberal mainstream media gave Davis’ lie about her history a free pass, as it always does. Perhaps their silence is because they are still entrenched in the Chris Christie bridge scandal–but of course, story telling by Democrats is nothing new. If you recall another Democrat who embellished his military career (Richard Blumenthal) went on to win the Senate seat for Connecticut. Also, let’s not forget then-Senator Hillary Clinton’s tendency to “create” stories about being shot at in Bosnia during the 2008 Presidential race. And of course there is Barack Obama, aka Barry Sorento. The propensity for truth telling is obviously not high on the morality list for many Democratic members who hold office. In Davis’ case, the gift of life doesn’t seem to be high on her list of importance in any direction. If Davis had her way, a woman can end the life of an unborn child at 20 weeks–a child that can suck his or her thumb, yawn, stretch and make faces. There is no morality in this action and yet anyone who defends that right for life is vilified in the media. Texas is still a strongly Republican state; for that we should breathe a sigh of relief. Otherwise, the great state would fall to liberal policies and we all know how that turns out. Just ask California.
