Feminist Says Stay-At-Home Moms Are So Beneath Her

Someone forgot to tell Amy Glass that attacking stay-at-home moms (SAHM) isn’t the best idea. Judging by the title of her new blog post, she doesn’t really give a hoot anyway. “I Look Down On Young Women With Husbands And Kids And I’m Not Sorry” opens with this bit of garbage: “Every time I hear someone say that feminism is about validating every choice a woman makes I have to fight back vomit.” Well Amy, this SAHM of eight wanted to vomit when she read your blog. It’s almost funny what superiority you feel over so many American moms who work their butts off to raise good, strong people. People who don’t feel the need to belittle others to make themselves look or feel better. Granted, I haven’t been the best SAHM mom by any stretch, but so far, my kids have turned out pretty darn good.
There’s something I can say with certainty and pride. My only daughter, a young woman who has been a SAHM and now works and goes to school full time, would never disparage an entire group of women by saying something as callous and as false as this: “Do people really think that a stay at home mom is really on equal footing with a woman who works and takes care of herself? There’s no way those two things are the same.” That’s because my daughter has class, grace and brains. She knows that raising children is as honorable as any job you can get. The women who choose to do it have every bit of talent and success as any woman. And, I know my sons would be happy and blessed to have a SAHM for a wife!
