Obamacare & The Negative Economic Impact on Women

American women, no matter which political party they belong to, will feel the ‘economic pain’ from Obamacare in many areas of life for both themselves and their families in 2014 and 2015. There will be talking around the kitchen table as President Obama and Democrats want, but it will not be about how to sign up for Obamacare. The conversation will be about the choices women will have to make to keep their standard of living and how to figure out what healthcare issues are the most important.
Why?
The roll out of effects of Obamacare are still to coming for women that work in corporate American with the open enrollment systems beginning next fall. Millions and millions of women could be left out in the cold getting sick without proper healthcare coverage. What surprises could there be for American Women?
How will I pay for higher medical premium for myself?
How will I pay a higher premium for family coverage?
Why can’t I receive medical treatment from my current doctors?
Why have my medical benefits changed from last year?
Why have my deductibles been raised?
There are so many variables that even the government agencies and politicians that are dealing with regulating the American health care industry don’t have a clue what is going on. It is important to note that there are many government agencies (dozens) that regulate healthcare system (more than nuclear energy) that required with all of these regulatory agencies for the American Health Care Industry.
Why now?
The American healthcare system has been crumbling apart for many years and ‘career politicians’ as well as ‘short term politicians’ have done very little to monitor the system, control fraud and abuse, re-design Medicare and Medicaid or help the uninsured as American Health Care timeline (http://www.pbs.org/healthcarecrisis/history.htm) indicates. Dysfunctional American politician leadership has for many years led us to this point. Neither Democrats nor Republicans have made a real effort to deal with the known crisis which have now resulted and will continue to place unstable economic condition on most Americans. Obamacare is 100% out of control and MOST members of Congress need to find new jobs in 2014 so Americans can find a solution to the crumbling U.S. healthcare system.
As Dr. Ben Carson recently said, “I’m very hopeful that someone will come a long that really understands who we really are…” (I personally hope Dr. Carlson will consider running for office in 2016.)
At the end of the day, politicians pretending to be experts and talking heads’ opinions are useless chatter to me. I’ll go with my simple reasons for calling out the American politicians who support Obamacare as being unable to understand the current healthcare system and who lack the ability to ethically really help the Americans that need health care and to control the out of control cost for all other Americans:
The ACA will leave tens of millions uncovered. It will do little to alter racial disparities in coverage. It will also perpetuate disparities in access based on state of residence. The ACA, whatever its merits, will fall well short of its stated goal of providing affordable care for all Americans.
What are the real solutions that will work in the real world of the American Healthcare system? We have yet to learn.
