Dying 8 Year Old Gets Christmas Wish Granted by Townspeople

*** Laney Update ***Facebook message from Laney’s mother, Dec. 25, 2013: “My heart breaks right now. Our little angel on earth earned her pink glittery angel wings in heaven. She took her last breath at home in her bed at 3:10 surrounded by all her family and friends. I miss her so much already.”
Over 8,000 West Reading, Pa. townspeople gathered outside 8-year-old Delaney Brown’s house Saturday night to sing “Silent Night”, “Joy to the World” and “Jingle Bells”. This was just one of Laney’s, as she called by her family, bucket wishes.
Laney was diagnosed last May with a rare form of leukemia called Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Doctors give her days to live. That why her family has been hard at work trying to answer as many of her bucket list wishes as they can.
At least one caroler changed her travel plans to attend. Renee Kirkland-Hinton told WTFX, “I was actually supposed to be leaving to go out of town yesterday and I changed my plans just to be here tonight, just to be of support and be prayerful for the family”.
Friday was Laney’s 8th birthday. A wish to meet Taylor Swift, also a Pennsylvania native, was fulfilled via video chat through “Make a Wish” foundation.
Laney also wanted to be a babysitter. Her mom posted Friday on their Facebook page, “We had a friend of the family bring over their 7 week old baby for Laney to “take care of”. She fed him and sang him lullabies. She rubbed his little belly while he slept. She honestly didn’t want to give him back that is until he pooped.”
Laney asked her mom to post a picture of their house fully decorated for Christmas. But the most precious picture on their Team Laney’s Facebook page is of Laney as she was listening to the carolers, giving two thumbs up with a caption saying, “I can hear you now!!! Love you!”
Please keep this family in prayer.
