An American Who Happens to be Black

hqdefaultKaren Watson is one amazing American who is fighting to get this country back to our conservative roots.  I recently had the privilege of hearing her speak and I walked away with a renewed vigor for doing my part in the war against liberal mania.

Karen was invited, as a teenager, to attend the Reagan-Bush Convention in 1984.  Although she really was not interested at the time, her Mom insisted that she take advantage of the opportunity.  She met Ronald Reagan and knew immediately that he cared about her as an American—not a black American.  Did I mention that she is black? The sense of Americana was alive and real and just listening to them she said she knew they genuinely cared about Americans.   Karen was too young to vote in ’84, as a Republican anyway.  She said if she was a Democrat she would have voted (that’s a joke to all of you who were wondering).

In the 2008 campaign she found that people assumed she supported Obama because she was black.  Like the rest of us she was disappointed and depressed when he won that year as well as another term in 2012.

Her message is clear and concise and filled with facts. The President entered office in 2009 with a 69% approval rating.  The first week of December, 2013, his approval rating was 41%.  The divide between the rich and poor has grown and we have more black on white crime. Our unemployment rate is up, the national debt is out of site, 48 million people are on food stamps, 43% of black youth are unemployed, and the media remains silent.  She attributes much of this to “white guilt”.  No one wants to say anything against the first black President.  Have we forgotten that he is only half black?

One statement she made really hit home with me.  She said that she “assumed all liberals were liberal because they had not been exposed to conservatism”.  Yet as she researched she found that liberals are carefully trained in the liberal values and trained to take that message forward.  Where and why did we, as conservatives, lose our message?  Our message is powerful.  We must remind people that Abraham Lincoln was the 1st Republican President and the NAACP was established to commemorate him.  Ronald Reagan is the one who signed the Martin Luther King holiday into law.  Richard Nixon was a major force in equal opportunity and in creating jobs for blacks, yet we are letting Barack Obama divide our country by stirring racial issues.

Karen, like most conservative Americans is fearful for the future of our country. She spoke with an 18 year old girl in Oklahoma who said she is afraid to have children in this economy.  Well known economist Thomas Sowell, spoke to students at Stanford University Law School, who said they are afraid for their future. We are the wealthiest nation EVER in history.  Yet we are quickly moving in the wrong direction. We must wake people up to the truth and tell our side of the story before it is too late! She made a statement that Barack Obama is the worst President in History for black Americans.  You notice I wrote “she said”, because if I made that statement I would be called racist!   It appears this country is more divided today that before he became President.

How do we change this?  We start behaving as Americans…not “hyphenated” Americans.  We are all in this together and we must pull together to put this county back in the hands of middle class America, back in the hands of the working people.  If we do not our middle class will cease to exist and that, my friends, is the road to socialism.  How many of you really believe that Obamacare is about healthcare?  It is not.  It is about control

Karen ended her speech with something that surprised me.  She asked, “What can we do to get passed the MSM”?  The answer is this.  If you are reading this you are already part of the solution.  You have chosen to use the internet and social media to educate the uninformed and misinformed against the liberal brainwashing they receive from so many other sources.  Conservatives must take ownership of social media.  Young people don’t watch the news.  They “Google” the news and they peruse social media sites 24/7.

Take a moment to look into the future.  What will history say about present day America?  Will they ask how we let our national debt reach figures in excess of 18 trillion?  Will they ask how we let God and guns become illegal?  Will they ask how the greatest nation in the world let another nation take control?

Will they ask, “What happened to America”?
