Priorities: Paying for Wine Goblets (But Not Veterans…)

Ever notice that when it is convenient for President Obama to come to the cameras to bash the Tea Party and House Republicans, he is “Johnny on the spot”. However, when it comes to explaining why he is refusing to negotiate, he walks away from that tough question. We’ve heard how the WWII veterans were kept from visiting the war memorial that was erected in their honor and we’ve also heard about veterans being arrested. The National Mall was available for Democrats and people who are pushing for amnesty with the immigration bill, but 5 blocks away the WWII Memorial was still closed.
Apparently this administration feels it is necessary to spend money to keep people out of free parks. You would think common sense would prevail, since the cost factor of closing them down is more than keeping them open; but I believe we are watching a President who is acting like a 2 year old not getting his way and punishing innocent people in the process.
As reported this week on various media outlets, four of our soldiers –two of them Army Rangers and one Marine–were killed while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan. The bodies of the four soldiers were returned to Dover Air Force Base on Wednesday of this week–but instead of honoring the sacrifice of these brave warriors, the administration decided to do suspend death benefits to their families. How’s that for a slap in the face? So yes, in Obama’s America you can serve and die for your country, but don’t ask for the same employer to pay for your family’s transport to meet your coffin as it comes home.
Personally, I am beyond furious with this administration. It is pathetic that we are witnessing a President who gives absolutely no thought about how the family members of these fallen soldiers must feel, being notified that because our power plays within our government, they will be punished. Of course our Congress is still getting paid, and it was recently reported that $5 Million is being spent on crystal wine goblets–and still the MSM is giving Obama a pass. After all, he is the chosen one for Chris Matthews and Al Sharpton…
DEBT CEILING
In addition to slighting the men and women who are willing to sacrifice all for our country, the debt ceiling debate will soon be upon us, and by the looks of how the partial Government shutdown is playing out, a good guess would be that there won’t be any compromises made there, either. The Democrats want a clean resolution to increase the debt ceiling with no caps or cuts in spending, while the Republicans want the opposite. Again, common sense tells a family that lives on a budget that one must spend within their means or face financial ruin. I can’t imagine why our Government does not feel the need to live by those standards. Perhaps they don’t think of it as “their money” and don’t need to be held accountable for what they spend…
Liberal media outlets warn of the “pending doom” if the debt ceiling is not raised. One of the many questions they’re not asking is why it needs to be raised in the first place. Why is our Government allowed to spend more of our money without oversight or a budget—aka plans to pay it back? And when was the last time the Senate approved a budget? And what about our standing in the world? We’ve already seen a downgrade in our ratings as a country; does Washington really believe spending more will help? China probably won’t mind, since they will simply own us even more than they already do–but what about the legacy we are leaving our children and grandchildren? Don’t we owe them a brighter future than bigger Government spending, bankrupt nation and more people living off the taxpayers?
OBAMACARE DEBACLE & GROUNDSWELL ACTIVISM
For the life of me, I don’t understand why so many people still believe this “law of the land” is the best thing since sliced bread. We don’t know the number of people who have actually enrolled successfully in the program as per Kathleen Sibelius, Jack Lew and Jay Carney. We are told as taxpayers that we cannot be exempt from Obamacare; however, over 1,100 corporations–including Congress—are exempt. Obama says it is “constitutional” and was upheld by the Supreme Court–but what few are talking about is that the Supreme Court ruled it a tax. If it is a tax, how did the Senate decide on the matter in the first place, and not the House?
When you look back at the past few weeks, I believe there is truly a groundswell of anger growing within Americans. Independents, Blue Dogs, Libertarians and Tea Party Conservative Americans are fed up with how dysfunctional our Government has become and come 2014, I believe we will witness the “old guard” on both sides of the isle being replaced with new. We’ve recently witnessed how many millions of people are willing to go out of their way to express their frustrations, from the “Million Bikers” and “Million Truckers” to hundreds of groups in between (and you know these events are successful when the MSM chooses not to cover them). Of course, silence from MSNBC and the ramping up of rhetoric by the Left is a sure sign they are worried about what the voters will do. When you use terms such as hostage, terrorists, extremists or holding guns to people’s heads, you need to realize this is their way of attacking the very people who will answer with their votes.
Our country is at a crossroads and watching liberal politicians with progressive policies run amuck has awakened many voters. In 2014, we may witness another 2010-like shellacking; let us hope the voters will not let us down.
