Obama’s Revenge

A6yjq7MCcAAUtioDo you remember when Obama first suggested to the American people that they vote for revenge? It was on November 2nd, 2012 during one of his Ohio campaign stops. Obama stood in front of his supporters inside a public high school and with only a mere mention of Mitt Romney’s name, the crowd began to boo. Little did they know that the next words out of Obama’s mouth would be a chilling indication of what we were to discover in Obama’s 2nd term.  “No, no, no! Don’t boo—vote!” Obama said. “Vote. Voting is the best revenge.”

So what exactly did Obama mean when he sent his supporters to the polls to vote for revenge? Let’s take a look at some of the events that have occurred in just this year alone.

We have seen the targeting of Conservatives and Tea Party groups by the IRS.  It’s no secret that Obama and many Democrat leaders have obvious contempt for the Tea Party. They never miss a chance to place blame or even go to the extent of calling those involved with the movement vile names. It seems like every time there is a shooting the MSM never hesitates to point their finger at a “Tea Party extremist” who is “probably a member of the NRA”. More recently, Dr. Ben Carson revealed that he had his first encounter with the IRS this year–unsurprisingly after the now infamous Prayer breakfast in which he was highly critical of the Obama administration.

It was also discovered in June of this year that the American people–and members of the “sacred” press–were being spied on by the NSA.  Phone records and other personal information were secretly seized, including the hacking of two computers owned by CBS Sheryl Atkinson while she was investigating Benghazi.  In addition to her work on the Benghazi cover-up, Atkinson has been a thorn in the DOJ’s side for years, beginning with her investigations on Fast and Furious and also regarding the Obama administration’s green energy spending.

And now we are witnessing a partial shutdown of the government. No, the sky didn’t fall and the stock market didn’t crash. Fox News confirmed that only 17% of the government was affected by the shutdown, according to a recent spending calculation. The panic set by Obama and his administration just didn’t happen. In fact the only real impact the shutdown has had on the majority of the American people, has been the closing of the National Mall and our national parks and landmarks. Sure, we have heard the stories of the elderly couple forced out of their home at Lake Mead, NV and the cones placed on the highway at Mount Rushmore, which prevented visitors from pulling over and viewing the memorial from their vehicles. But nothing wreaks revenge more than the treatment received by America’s bravest heroes when they showed up for a visit to the WWII Memorial in DC on Oct.1st, the day the government officially shut down.  Our brave veterans were met with barricades and signs letting them know that they were not welcome. If you have ever visited the WWII Memorial, you would know that it is an open memorial and is not enclosed or in a building.  If Obama was seeking revenge, then yes, he got it. Outrage sparked the nation as pictures of the barricades and signs announcing the closure began to surface. We struggled to understand how a Commander in Chief would ever deny those that selflessly sacrificed so much, the right to see what they have so bravely earned. These were the men who dropped from planes and descended on Normandy. They stormed the beaches and were the first and front in many a battle. Extraordinary men who watched many of their brothers die defending freedom. Their only wish was to pay their respects.

Not even the “Barrycades” (as Sarah Palin calls the barricades used to block the entrances) could stop these brave men. They stormed the memorial in WWII fashion knocking them over and forcing their way through. It seems Obama may have underestimated them just a little. Regardless, the threats of arrest and other tactics failed to prevent them from visiting the memorial. Of course the American people were ready to jump in and help if it would have come to that. Radio host Mark Levin sent a stern warning that if anyone laid a hand on our Veterans, he would send half a million people to Washington to pay them a little visit. The American people didn’t take too kindly to the treatment imposed on our Veterans, shutdown or not.

So for now, Obama can throw his tantrums. It doesn’t look like there will be a compromise anytime soon when it comes to opening the government back up. Both sides are standing firm and Obama has made it clear that he will not negotiate when it comes to ObamaCare. We can expect to hear more stories about elderly couples being kicked from their homes, beaches being closed with no access to our oceans and national parks and monuments closed to the public. We still have another three years with Obama as President as we are barely winding down the first year of his second term. So far his revenge runs pretty deep. But one thing is clear:  he needs to pick his battles wisely. The American people will fiercely stand up and defend those that have fought to defend us. God Bless our Vets.
