Erik Rush: Radio Show Next Step for Controversial Author

erik_headshot2aErik Rush is no stranger to controversy.

From his 2010 book, ‘Negrophilia’, to his role in the critically-acclaimed documentary “Runaway Slave”, Rush is living proof that the First Amendment to the Constitution is under full-scale attack in America from those who disagree with points of view that they simply don’t like, or don’t agree with.

And the attack on free speech is especially visible when it’s a black man who goes “off script” and starts telling it like it is, instead of how the Left and the mainstream media wants you to think it is.

Just ask Lt. Col. Allen West, Dr. Ben Carson, Thomas Sowell, Ambassador Allen Keyes and Herman Cain to name a few.

But like the other patriots mentioned above, the criticism only serves to embolden this product of a New York, liberal democrat home to the point where he’s just started his own radio show because he simply couldn’t write as fast “as the news keeps changing”.

Recently I had the privilege of having a thoughtful conversation with Erik Rush.  His personable and insightful story from beginning to the present was a refreshing mix of patriotism and wisdom.  The many talents of this humble man are inevitably propelling his rising star from not just the written page, but now to the airwaves and beyond.

One of the first extraordinary things I found out about Erik is that he is a self-taught musician and his keyboard/base guitar rock star dreams were his initial career of choice.  But a few years out of high school, playing in bands and totally getting into the Bohemian-rocker lifestyle, Erik gave it up, relocated to Colorado, and embarked on another one of his passions—writing.

With the success of having a few small fictional pieces published, he began to write for a small local newspaper, The Northern Colorado Courier.  It was during this time that Erik was becoming more aware of race relations as it related to the political arena, and found himself gravitating to a conservative/libertarian point of view.

As more conservative publications began to open up online, Erik began to write for several of these new media outlets.  And as fate would have it, when a conservative Chicago-area journalist who knew Obama was going to declare for the democratic nomination for president called Rush’s editor with a bombshell of a story, it was passed along to Erik who jumped at the opportunity to break it wide open.

The story was Erik’s debut into the big-leagues, and nearly cost the Barack Obama the 2008 presidential election.

What Erik had found was an alarming long-time affiliation between Obama and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright of Trinity United Church in Chicago.  This racist espousing, America hating, dangerously-divisive rhetoric preached at this church certainly was something an American would-be president should not be comfortable with, and the American people needed to know it.  The story wasn’t gaining much traction in senator Obama’s Chicago-land but hopefully that would all change with Erik’s piece; and it did.  On February 20, 2007, “Obamanation” was published in NewMediaJournal.us, creating a firestorm of controversy for both then-Sen. Obama and Erik.

A week later, Erik broke the lightening rod of a story to the nation on FOX TV’s ‘Hannity’ Show.

With his expose` Erik was thrust into the national media spotlight and “put through the meat grinder”, as he refers to it.

“I was called everything from a traitor to an Uncle Tom and worse,” Erik tells me.

Although there was a backlash with the black community with the Obama tell-tale reveal, Erik says he was only too happy to expose not only the major red flags surrounding this unvetted relationship between Obama and Wright, but perhaps even more importantly, he was able to get out his own views as a Black- American on race relations and race politics.

Of course his views seemed unconventional with most Black Americans, but Rush felt it was time for people to know that the Black world view was not monolithic, a subject that lead to Erik’s 2010 book titled, “Negrophilia – From Slave Block To Pedestal – America’s Racial Obsession”.

He said one day he just looked around and asked himself, “What in the world has happened to Blacks in America?  What is causing the Black American Family to basically Implode?”

He felt so strongly about it he had to write a book.  According to the books’ description,  “Negrophilia” studies the undue and inordinate affinity for blacks (as opposed to antipathy toward them) that has been promoted by activists, politicians and the establishment press for the past 40 years, and which has fostered an erroneous perception of blacks, particularly in America.

The book dissects the dynamic of race relations and race politics with an emphasis on each since the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, how these are likely to develop given a Barack Obama presidency, and how conscientious Americans may discern the deeper truths of these matters and thus develop healthier perceptions.

It was precisely Erik’s view on these issues that led to a request for his appearance in the 2012 documentary, “Runaway Slave”.  This pivotal piece, promoted by Freedom Works, follows C. L. Bryant’s “insightful look on how big government policies have systematically ‘enslaved’ the black population through entitlements and other programs resulting in a new ‘welfare state.’  …..a form of ‘modern slavery’, for a large percentage of the African-American community,” according to the documentary’s own promotional page.

With appearances by Thomas Sowell, Glenn Beck, Dr. Alveda King, Herman Cain and others, Erik said had found a whole new group of people who were like-minded and were in his opinion, “excellent human beings!”

They have all come to share the view that the black man in America has just traded one form of slavery for another.

“Through clever manipulation by the Democratic party and now the leftists, Black Americans have been kept ignorant through substandard education, destruction the black family through entitlements , and infiltration of black churches to promote an anti-Christian agenda that would result in the destruction of the black culture in general”, he said passionately.

According to Rush, party activists like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are able to keep Black Americans distracted and dependent on the Democratic party by fanning the flames of dissent and strife, resulting in the race-warring factions necessary to keep the Democrats in power.  Erik said after the film was released he couldn’t count the number emails and messages thanking him for not being afraid to speak out in truth.

He said so many people shared with him that they thought they were the only ones who felt that way and that the government and media were determined to culturally vulcanize the U.S.  They were glad it was now, ‘OK’ to break with the leftist orthodoxy of having that chip on your shoulder, and profligating the mantra, “you’re going to slight me because I’m Black, or because I’m gay or a woman or whatever.  ‘People tend to get what they expect,’ to quote Norman Vincent Peale,” Erik said.

A more recent exploit of Erik’s has been teaming up with author, philanthropist and human rights activist Dr. Jim Garrow, in promoting the Pink Pagoda Girls Foundation.  Pink Pagoda helps to rescue baby girls from infanticide in China.  Erik has been instrumental in helping to promote PPG in the United States and the two of them will be teaming up on some exploits in the future so look for more to come on that soon.

Erik was matter of fact in following up the Pink Pagoda Girls Foundation topic by saying that all things positive in his life and in life in general, are God.

“With God there are no coincidences…everything is God,” he said.

He said he prefers to let the way he lives his life share God with others as opposed to always using words.  According to his own Facebook page he, “Is a servant of the Kingdom of God.”

In addition to serving God and serving others with his many gifts and talents, Erik is also a dedicated family man with a wife and three children.

As if he didn’t already have enough on his plate, Erik has now taken to the airwaves with a new internet radio program called, “Full Contact with Erik Rush Streaming Live.”

Rush, who had just wrapped up his radio show for the day when we spoke, said there were really two reasons he decided to jump into broadcasting at this stage of his life.  And he’s not shy about admitting the first motivation is to improve the Rush family income.

“Let’s face it”, he said, “There’s not a whole lot of money in what it is we do.  So I’m looking for a broadcast presence.  People assume because I have a TV presence, and my name is out there in publications that I’m well off.  But unless you have the broadcast presence, the money’s just not there.  As long as I’m putting in the time, I might as well get paid.”

He is hoping the success of the show will take him to the ‘next level’ and give a little bit of financial breathing room to him and his family.

The second reason he shared is that the news changes so rapidly that writing a column once a week, even a few times per week, is just not sufficient anymore to get the job done of informing Americans of what is really going on “out there”.  He said sometimes by the time he gets his column written, the story may have already become obsolete.

With the Full Contact radio show, Rush will be able to share multiple stories in real time sequence, and eventually plans on opening up the lines for callers, live guests and guest hosts, God willing of course.

“I will still be writing my regular columns for World Net Daily and Canada Free Press, but now you can also find me on live radio, which is ‘totally groovy!’” said Rush with a smile in his voice.

You can find Erik Rush on Facebook and also his website, www.ErikRush.com.  Both of these pages will have links to Full Contact with Erik Rush Streaming Live.

The program runs 11am – 1pm Eastern Time, M-F.
