Cruz Speaks: America is Calling to #MakeDCListen

Phones in U.S. Senators’ offices have been ringing off the hook. Many of their calls being met with busy signals and directed to voicemail from high call volumes and some voicemails being found full. Lindsay Graham’s number just went straight to a fax line. America is calling to #MakeDCListen.
Some will listen to their constituent bosses, others won’t, but it becomes increasingly hard to drown out the voices of Americans standing by the millions against this devastating healthcare mandate.
At 2:41pm ET, September 24, the mighty man of valor, Senator Ted Cruz took control of the Senate floor for what would be an historic 21-hour call for Senators to listen to the overwhelming pleas of Americans; Americans being crushed under the great financial burden of Obamacare. Cruz took up the cause of calling for Senators to vote in conscience and vote no to cloture on the Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund government and defund Obamacare.
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin had some strong words as she spoke on Neil Cavuto’s program midday Tuesday. Palin said, “the heart and soul of Americans who care about this country and the future of our economic liberty, we will be standing there having his(Ted Cruz’s) back doing all that we can to support him and thanking him for being willing to fulfill his campaign promises.”
Hashtags #MakeDCListen and #KeepCruzing were strongly trending all day on Twitter from the time Cruz took the podium. Cruz read tweets from real Americans who tweeted their reasons why Obamacare is devastating to their lives.
I, along with so many Americans, am losing my health insurance policy at the end of the year. In addition, our health premiums are jetting sky high now. Obama’s promises of ‘lower premiums by $2,500 per family per year’ and ‘if you like your health plan, you can keep it’ are known dirty lies from a corrupt, deceitful politician and DC ruling class. Instead our premiums skyrocket, plans cancelled, meanwhile quality of care is forecasted to plummet for those not well connected to the ‘elite’ Federal Government power-players.
Representatives including Justin Amash and Louie Gohmert visited the Senate Chamber in support of Cruz. Cruz thanked Gohmert for having stayed in the chamber through the night in support.
Cruz read bedtime stories to his two little girls as they watched via CSPAN – the first King Solomon’s wise words from the book of Proverbs, “even fools seem smart when they are quiet.” The second story was Dr. Seuss’ Green Eggs & Ham to which he drew a connection in the healthcare debate. The difference between Green Eggs & Ham and healthcare being that while in the book once tried the green eggs and ham were very much liked; however, as Cruz points out, Americans have tried Obamacare and it has not worked!
As his time drew to a close, Cruz spoke of half of small businesses falling under the mandate are either cutting jobs or cutting hours to less than 30 hours per employee. He cited stats including that 24% of small businesses are not hiring in order to stay under 50 employees and that, “Small businesses provide two-thirds of all new jobs.”
Senator Cruz stated, “29 hours is not enough to feed your kids.” and continued, “For struggling single moms, for young people, apparently the Senate is closed for business.” Employers are being forced to choose between cutting hours, employees or closing their doors and cutting all hours and all employees.
Cruz concluded at noon ET after more than 21 hours of speaking time. He noted that it seemed fitting to conclude this time with a prayer.
After leaving the Senate floor, Cruz went on the radio with Rush Limbaugh. Cruz spoke of the disappointing defeatist attitude of other Senators and their lack of will to win a fight for the people of America.
We the people of America need more Ted Cruzes in Washington and to throw out the ‘permanent political class’ that is a cancer on America’s great heritage of freedom and opportunity. Obamacare is a destructive financial weight for Americans, crippling millions. From the single moms to the small business owner, this legislation knocks the legs out from under those who are truly pursuing a better life in the honest spirit of American opportunity: working hard to rise above one’s circumstances.

Just last night Senator Tim Scott, R-SC, tweeted “Thank you all for the calls, emails, facebook posts and tweets this week . . . I am a NO on #cloture. #Defund.”
