Why Americans Are No Longer Buying the “For Your Safety” Hogwash

Most of Americans would agree that at least a little bit of government (like the kind small enough to fit inside our Constitution) is indeed, necessary. After all, this particular institution was actually created for our good –with its purpose in providing citizens with a bit of security by establishing and enforcing of some law and order within our nation’s borders. So, a good government will use its designated power (power borrowed from We the People) to help restrain evildoing and to punish the “bad guys,” while empowering the “good guys” (mainly, by leaving them the heck alone as much as possible).

But unfortunately, we seem to have too many government officials who aren’t even able to discern the difference between “good” and “evil” anymore. In fact, Washington elitists now appear to be spending more time finding ways to violate the rights of well-intended Americans while going out of their way to coddle and empower terrorists and criminals.

Between the IRS targeting Conservative groups and intimidating small businesses, TSA groping and porn-scanning small children and grannies at the airport, gun-control zealots continuously attacking the citizens’ fundamental right to defend themselves, the EPA over-regulating and shutting down businesses, DHS “policing” what Americans can and cannot say about Islamic terrorists (heaven forbid we hurt their feelings), NSA spying on everybody’s phone records, and Obamacare taking over every other aspect of American life– it’s hard to tell what crisis the Political Class will use next to smother us  with more taxes, more regulations, more privacy invasions, and more violations to our God-given liberties.

Many politicians (on both sides of the aisle) will claim that all their big-government programs are “for our safety,” of course. But just how bogus and disingenuous this silly claim truly is when many of them are actually considering awarding amnesty to lawbreakers before taking more serious measures to secure our borders and protect U.S. citizens from dangerous criminals who are coming here illegally.

In fact, the Obama administration just recently made it much easier for illegal immigrants to stay in our country with its new immigration policies.

Breitbart reported:

“According to the clear guidelines published on the Internet and updated by the Obama administration in mid-June, now illegal immigrants can there’s an easier way to cross to gain entrance to the United States: simply step right up to a border crossing and tell the officials that you have a “credible fear” of persecution or torture. Use that exact phrasing and you may be able to enter the USA while you await a hearing before an immigration judge…a process that could take years.”

Breitbart also wrote:

Elsewhere on the DHS site, the government draws a distinction between a “credible” fear and a “reasonable” fear. The credible fear standard appears to be a lower bar, which is likely why it became the key word used by about 200 people a week ago at the Otay crossing near San Diego.

Two magical words: “credible fear”– and U.S. officials are now instructed to roll out the welcome mat for illegals. In fact Fox News reported that agencies are even buying hotel rooms for the surge of illegal immigrants who are awaiting asylum.

Now, if the Obama administration is really as concerned “for our safety” as it says it is, we’d think it would be doing everything in its power to make sure dangerous criminals aren’t breeching our borders at all. Yet, the administration seems to be doing the exact opposite with all these new guidelines.

Indeed, the administration has claimed that illegal border crossings are down. However, according to Newsmax:

“Arizona citizens living on or near the border complain daily that the U.S. Border Patrol, even with increased agents and equipment, is unable to cope with the daily crossings of illegal aliens and drug smugglers. In many areas of Arizona, the Border Patrol is located 6 to 20 miles north of the border.”

Newsmax also reports:

“Claims by the Obama administration and immigrant advocates cannot be verified by U.S. Border Patrol agents, sheriff deputies, or U.S. citizens living along the Southern border. Illegal border crossings are up in anticipation of free access to the United States provided for in the Senate immigration bill.”

So, it is no wonder all American eyes are on the House to stop the Senate’s immigration bill.

Meanwhile, there are evildoers still crossing into our nation every single day. And many are hell-bent on causing U.S. citizens serious harm.

First, we have Mexican Drug Cartels infiltrating major U.S. cities not only attempting to maximize their lucrative narcotics market, but they are also expanding into other criminal enterprises such as: prostitution, kidnapping-and-extortion rackets and money laundering.

Newsmax reports:

“The Chicago Crime Commission reports that Mexican Drug Cartels (MDC) are sending top operatives to U.S. cities to oversee their criminal operations. MDCs are powerful enough to now control in whole or in part numerous national and state forests and parks. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency’s Chicago chief, Jack Riley, is quoted as saying that these Mexican cartels are the most serious threat that the nation has faced from organized crime. Meanwhile, MDCs have free run of the Southern border.”

Retired Border Patrol agents even called on Congress to abandon efforts to grant amnesty to illegal aliens because “passing amnesty would be akin to abetting the drug cartels,” according to Breibart. The agents further explained:

“Congress must abandon their focus on rewarding illegal behavior for millions of persons by the grant of amnesty in favor of protecting American citizens who suffer daily at the hands of these seasoned criminals,” they wrote. “To do otherwise makes a mockery of our laws, and encourages countless millions more from around the globe to do the same. Transnational organized crime nationwide has flourished under these conditions.”

However, Americans not only have to be concerned about the Mexican Drug Cartels these days, they also have to beware of the rising number other illegal immigrant rapists, human traffickers, drug dealers, and murderers who are also hiding in the shadows. In fact, Newsmax reported:

• On July 11, 2013, New Jersey state officials arrested seven Mexican nationals, living in the United States illegally for years and operating a large prostitution ring. The operators brought female foreign nationals across the Southern border with ease.

• In April 2013, Detroit police raided a house behind a public library and found 400 semi-automatic rifles, 25,000 rounds of ammunition, 200 pounds of heroin, $5 million in forged U.S. banknotes, and 15 trafficked Latina prostitutes. Detroit is now in bankruptcy due in part to illegal aliens obtaining entitlement benefits.

Some other alarming reports (not mentioned in the mainstream media) that have occurred just in the past couple months:

• A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by as many as 10 illegal immigrants on June 29,2013. According to Stand With Arizona:  “The girl, a runaway, who lives at the Settlement Home for Children, was picked up by “three Latino men” and driven to the Avalon Arms apartments, where she was raped by a large group of men for several hours, according to police. As many as 10 men took turns sexually assaulting the girl. Many cheered and filmed the crime on their cell phones.”

• A 19-year old illegal alien just recently beat and raped a 93-year old woman in her South Omaha, Nebraska. Stand With Arizona reports:

  The victim later died from injuries that she incurred during the attack.

• According to the Examiner, another illegal immigrant (recently) sexually assaulted at least five girls in Iowa.

So, it is no wonder Senator Ted Cruz thinks that the U.S. must start getting serious about securing the borders.

I agree. Our government has a moral duty to do everything in its power to restrain dangerous criminals from entering into our country. And, if they refuse to do that, they can at least leave our Second Amendment rights alone so we can protect ourselves.

However, there is actually something more alarming than the Mexican Drug Cartels and the “average” illegal immigrant criminal. National Review has also reported that terrorist groups are now using our Southern Border as their welcome mat as well.

According to National Review:

“Far more worrisome (than Hispanic immigrants), however, are the thousands who break into America from countries “where we have concerns, particularly about al-Qaeda affiliates,” a top State Department official told CNN.”

After all, Al Qaeda leader, Al-Zawahiri just recently released a video message stating that he is “prepared to wage war on America.”

Last November, The House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight also published A Line in the Sand: Countering Crime, Violence, and Terror at the Southwest Border. This study explained, “Of growing concern and potentially a more violent threat to American citizens is the enhanced ability of Middle East terrorist organizations, aided by their relationships and growing presence in the Western Hemisphere, to exploit the Southwest border to enter the United States undetected.”

ABC 10 News also reported, “Hezbollah, a terrorist organization whose home base is in the Middle East has established another home base across the border in Mexico.”

A former U.S. intelligent agent told ABC 10 News:

“They are recognized by many experts as the ‘A’ team of Muslim terrorist organizations. They certainly have had successes in big-ticket bombings. Some of the group’s bombings include the U.S. embassy in Beirut and Israeli embassy in Argentina. However, the group is now active much closer to San Diego. We are looking at 15 or 20 years that Hezbollah has been setting up shop in Mexico.”

What reason would Hezbollah be setting up base in Mexico? It’s no secret that Hezbollah is not a huge fan of the United States.

But at the end of the day, whether it is gun-control measures, NSA, TSA, EPA or some other BIG Nanny State program–they all seem rather disingenuous when Washington elites are more concerned about rewarding lawbreakers than securing our borders and protecting U.S. citizens from the evildoers mentioned above. That’s why nobody is even buying into the Political Class’s old “it’s for your safety” hogwash anymore.
