Are Democrats (Finally) Waking Up to a Dream Gone Bad?

fe468d92d3In the Conservative world we often preach to the choir. We research and follow the best conservative sites. We link with like- minded folks on Facebook and/or Twitter and share our daily political rants. (There are plenty of them, by the way.) We want to get our message out but sometimes it is always good to see what the opposition is up to and where their line of thinking is going. Would it surprise you to know that there might be some liberal thinkers out there in the right direction?

First, Matt Damon breaks up with Obama. (Would have been nice if he broke up with him before the election but anyhoo…) Apparently, the NSA revelations and the “legality of the drone strikes” have Damon questioning Obama’s motives. According to Matt, “He’s (Obama) got some explaining to do, particularly for a constitutional law professor.” Okay, Matt might not realize the fact that most of Obama’s policies have been anything but constitutional since he was elected in 2008. However, it is always good to hear an ultra-Hollywood liberal questioning a sitting Democrat President even if his movies still reek with liberal propaganda like his newest Elysium. It helps the low-information voters to also question things and this is always a bonus to the conservative side.

If you really want to dive into the progressive world then Salon news site is the place for you. There was a recent interview with an author by the name of Camille Paglia. If you haven’t heard of her then you probably don’t frequent the world of pro-pornography activism or buy into the Paleofeminist movement. (I am thinking this author wouldn’t want to sit down for coffee with me, a Christian Conservative.) Even though Paglia’s ultra- feminist ideology is something to question, her recent answers to two political questions were quite interesting. First, when asked on her thoughts on Anthony Weiner, she called him a “pathetic dork”. (Thank you, Ms. Paglia- my exact consent on the topic.  Now if only New York would wake up to reality and realize they do not need anymore “pathetic dorks” in office….)

Paglia’s second answer to the question of the upcoming 2016 election was a bit shocking to say the least. Her complete disdain for Hillary Clinton was not only refreshing but right on target:

“It remains baffling how anyone would think that Hillary Clinton is our party’s best chance. She has more sooty baggage than a 90-car freight train…. I for one think it was a very big deal that our ambassador was murdered in Benghazi. In saying ‘I take responsibility’ for it as secretary of state, Hillary should have resigned immediately.”

Paglia further stated what conservatives have been preaching all along regarding Clinton’s role in Benghazi:

“As far as I am concerned, Hillary disqualified herself for the presidency in that fist-pounding moment at a congressional hearing when she said, “What difference does it make what we knew and when we knew it, Senator?” Democrats have got to shake off the Clinton albatross and find new blood.”

(Wow, maybe we could go to coffee after all!  Well done, Ms. Paglia!)

Salon also recently published an article entitled, What if the President lied to us? (Did a liberal news site just use the L word?) The article questions whether the President has been deliberately lying to the American people about the NSA surveillance or been extremely ignorant and irresponsible as an ill-informed President. The article poses both questions but concludes two scenarios. First, if the President is indeed lying, “it means the official in question (Obama) is deliberately misleading the public–and that is rightly considered an abhorrent act in democracy.” Second, if Obama has been completely wrong in his various statements about the NSA, “it means he has been dangerously, irresponsibly and negligently ignorant of not only the government he runs, but also the news breaking around him.”

Had it not been for the Al Jazeera America ads running on the site, I might have thought I was reading a conservative news article. The writer comes to the (enlightened) conclusion that the President must be lying due to his own political motivation to hide illegal behavior over the NSA surveillance. He doesn’t seem to buy into the old political tactics of “I was wrong” or “I misspoke”. To read such an outright questioning of a liberal President by a liberal news site is astounding in our media biased country.

Maybe, just maybe, the message that we as Conservatives have been pounding out every day on news sites, cable television and the blogosphere is getting through. Then again, maybe, Liberals are finally gaining some critical thinking skills and waking up to the fact that “Hope and Change” is a dream gone bad. Whatever the reason, it is nice to know that there are Democrats and Liberals who are perhaps coming to the realization that this administration is destroying the foundation of our liberty.  If anything, it gives me a glimmer of hope in my fellow American citizens.
