The Answer is Not Gun Control, but Changing Hearts

Australian-baseball-player-killed__Christopher-Lane_610x458The news of the shooting death of Australian Christopher Lane, a baseball player attending University in Oklahoma was senseless but more shocking as was the reason given by the three teens that murdered him. It was because of “boredom”.

According to CNN, Charges were filed Tuesday against the three. James Edwards Jr., 15, and Chancey Luna, 16, were charged as adults with felony murder in the first degree.  Michael Jones, 17, faces two charges — use of a vehicle in the discharge of a weapon and accessory after the fact to murder in the first degree. A judge set bond at $1 million for Jones, while no bond was set for Edwards and Luna.

When police arrested the teens, one of them offered a motive which proved that Christopher Lane, who attended East Central University on a baseball scholarship, was chosen at random. “He said the motive was, ‘We were going to kill somebody,'” Police Chief Danny Ford told Australian radio station 3AW.  “They decided all three of them were going to kill somebody.”

This murder is the latest in so many horrible murders around this country that have happened in recent months, and while people are understandably outraged, some of the reactions about these murders are just plain disgusting in their hypocrisy.

It doesn’t take much to recall the media and political sensationalism that followed the early stages of the Treyvon Martin case.  We all remember Obama’s reaction when asked to comment, he said:

“So I’m glad that not only is the Justice Department looking into it, I understand now that the governor of the state of Florida has formed a task force to investigate what’s taking place…  But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon. And I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and that we’re going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”

Wednesday Aug. 21, White House spokesman Josh Earnest was asked about the Lane case. After admitting he wasn’t familiar with it, he was brought up to speed and had this to say:

Well, just that this sounds like a pretty tragic case. I wouldn’t want to get ahead of the legal process here. The president himself has spoken very eloquently about the violence in our communities.”

I’m waiting for Obama says if he had a son, he’d look like Christopher.

I am waiting to see if anyone in Congress will don a baseball cap and say, “We are all Christopher Lane.”

I am also waiting to see if anyone calls for a bounty on these boy’s heads for Christopher’s murder.

Will Congresswoman Fredrica Wilson D-FL want America “to see this sweet young man who was hunted down like a dog, shot in the street”?

I am waiting for Al Sharpton to act, and Jesse Jackson.  Oh wait, Jackson sent out a tweet saying:

Untitled

The murder is frowned upon?! Seriously Rev. Jackson, could you show a little more empathy than that?  Will you say there is a “Christopher in every town”? What about bringing a civil suit against these kids who murdered him?  Will you demand a real congressional, if not indeed a U.N., study on the plight violence in America when those who are victims are white?

I could point out the hypocrisy all day about those who pick and choose which murder will create the most sensational story.  All murders no matter the color of skin are horrible, but what makes it worse is to politicize and sensationalize some over others purely for political reasons or for perceived “social justice”.

This brings the next outrage, coming from Piers Morgan, when he said in a tweet, “When an innocent Australian student is shot dead in Oklahoma for ‘fun’ – America’s gun crisis becomes the world’s problem.”

No Piers, as much as you and the anti-2nd Amendment crowd would love to blame this on guns, we do not have a gun problem in this country.  We have a heart problem.  You see, guns did not kill Christopher, 3 products of liberalized society did.  Liberal logic from the past 30 plus years of teaching that the sanctity of life is relative, teaching kids if it feels good do it, that parents have no right to teach their children right from wrong, that corporal discipline is bad, but saying kids need to be allowed to express themselves is a problem. You teach them that old people don’t matter, babies born with disabilities don’t deserve to live and that babies are not human until they’re born. You teach society that a woman’s body is hers to do with her baby what she wants, and even prevent laws to say an unborn child who dies due to accidents or homicide is a person, so it is not worthy of being a part of a lawsuit, all in the name of protecting abortion rights.

The liberal welfare system which has created generations of people who have never worked, but collect every kind of benefit from housing to food stamps has demoralized people and given them no incentive to work for anything because they’ve known nothing but the government nanny state. People who have been trapped in the system have no goals, no drive, no HOPE!

Common sense and decency of beliefs such as Thou Shalt Not Murder have been taken out of schools, God has been kicked out of every public place and replaced with humanism and moral relativism and then you expect kids to know right from wrong.

The entertainment industry by large promotes every kind of hedonistic activity imaginable, killings, gun fights, and massacres and music is not much different. You have taught through entertainment that life is cheap. Hollywood stars who act out violence on the big screen love to lament about gun control.  Elitists who have private security guards love to talk about people not needing to own guns.  You send mixed and valueless messages to generations and expect people to be enlightened.   Here is something enlightening you may want to read.  A prediction of sorts, and seeing the senseless, thoughtless ways that people, many of whom are teenagers behave towards fellow humans, it seems that this time has come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent,  fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:2-5

We need to start teaching children that all life is priceless. Teach them self-respect and respect for others, especially others who may be different from them and their friends.  Teach them that they have gifts and talents, and they have much to share with the world. Teach them that there is more to life and the best way to live is to give more than what they can get.

Stop filling their minds with social experimentation, and get back to basics and teach them the difference between right and wrong, that there are consequences to every action. What these kids did was horrible and downright evil, but our society has a lot to answer for as well.  We don’t need gun control, or any more social government programs and laws. We need to change hearts.
