Thuggery and Tyranny

Obama_Chicago_MonsterOne thing that is becoming clearer and clearer is that Barack Obama is a thug and he doesn’t love America.

Barack Obama’s behavior in his Chicago campaigns prove his thug bonefides. He ran unopposed in 1996 by getting the petition signatures of his opponents disqualified. In his 2000 Senate race the divorce records of his opponent were unsealed at the request of The Chicago Tribune, despite protests by the two parties of the divorce.

And we know Barack Obama doesn’t love America because he promised to fundamentally change it. And I thank Dennis Prager for clarifying that point: No one wants to fundamentally change that which they love.

Now the administration is embroiled in several scandals: The administration lying about Benghazi, seizing the telephone records of reporters and using the IRS as a political weapon against those perceived as enemies. More than vindication, there is a feeling of inevitability being felt by those of us who recognized Obama as a thug and someone who doesn’t have America’s best interests at heart.

Tea Party organizations have been demonized not only by the press but by the administration. There was an unproven charge of a racial epithet being yelled by Tea Party protestors at the Black leadership of Congress when Obamacare was being debated. A charge that was repeated so often by the press that most people believe it really happened. Obama himself referred to the Tea Party as “tea baggers”, an offensive term my own mother repeated to me. I did not define the word for her, as it probably would have caused her a heart attack. I merely told her it was offensive and to never repeat it. When she pleaded ignorance as to its meaning I explained to her that she might not know what it meant, but the people she had heard use the term on TV certainly did.

We’ve learned that the IRS over scrutinized groups with “liberty” and / or “tea party” in their title. Similarly, pro-life and defense of traditional marriage groups were targeted. Groups attempting to educate students and citizens on the Constitution were questioned. Paperwork and approval was held up, inappropriate and irrelevant questions about prayers and opinions on Israel were asked. The names of donors were illegally leaked and those donors were harassed. Donors to such groups are coming forward reporting as having been audited by the IRS for the first time.

The IRS hearings will continue; we might even get to the bottom of it. But whether the instructions to over scrutinize those organizations considered to be political adversaries ultimately came from the White House or was the independent actions of individual employees is irrelevant.

Let’s think about this: if you had the chance to slow down Hitler, to throw a monkey wrench in his evil goals, wouldn’t you have done it?

If you work for someone who doesn’t just disagree with his opponents, but with the help of his administration and the press manages to demonize those opponents as evil, wouldn’t you consider it part of your job make sure evil people were prevented from getting their message out?

So what do we have here? We have a president and an administration that truly believe a weakening of individual rights of Americans and the silencing of opponents to be a good thing. Is it any wonder that employees of the administration would take that to mean that using the unlimited power of government to thwart those evil people would be a good thing?

Not good as effective, but good as ultimately moral. Because they believe that America needs to be transformed, and anything that aids in that transformation is a good thing. They believe their cause to be righteous, as proven by their zeal.

Why this arrogant and tyrannical over reach of power? I believe C.S. Lewis has the answer:

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

Beware the leader who feels he knows what is best for you and your country, who thinks it’s in your best interest to not hear views in opposition to his own and is willing to use the unlimited power of government to further his goals.

Anne Yenny

California PolitiChick Anne Yenny is the mother of four ranging in age from 24-18; three sons (oldest a 2nd LT in the Marine Corps) and a daughter. Both of her parents are from Scotland; she lived there for two years in the late 70s and has been back many times. She has first-hand experience with national healthcare and considers Americans for Obamacare at best dangerously naive. Anne voted for Carter in 1976 and says she has been "doing penance" ever since. When family members lament her conservative voting habits she simply replies, "it's amazing what 96 hours of labor teach you". Her husband of 26 years deserves the credit for the conversion from liberal to conservative--and best of all, he's never thrown the Carter vote up in her face.
