Wyoming Liberal Cries Wolf
Meg Lanker-Simons, a 28-year-old “professional undergrad student” at the University of Wyoming and a liberal activist, became the center of controversy last week when she claimed she had been threatened on the “UW Crushes” website. The post in question said, “I want to hatef*ck Meg Lanker-Simons so hard. That chick runs her liberal mouth all the time and doesn’t care who knows it. I think it’s so hot and it makes me angry. One night with me and she’s gonna be a good Republican b*tch.”
Students rallied around a shaken Meg, called into her local radio show and voiced outrage. Even a democrat in the State House of Representatives came out publicly and supported the poor, defenseless, helpless female liberal who had been threatened with rape via the Internet by a big, bad, mean ol’ conservative male.
Flash-forward soon after when a concerned fellow liberal demanded action against the evil conservative. Campus security and the police get involved and start investigating the situation, looking for the conservative “rapist” who would be stupid enough to openly threaten Lanker-Simons on social media. Liberal circles begin speculating about who the wannabe rapist might be—perhaps it was a certain conservative guy who was “whining about his gun rights last week” or another conservative jerk that didn’t support gay marriage… Basically conservative men all over Laramie were being convicted in the minds of the liberals supporting Meg.
Lo and behold, a few days later police obtained a warrant and confiscated Meg’s computer because surprise, they were now investigating Meg. They suspected she created a fake account and wrote the “rape” threat herself. (Cue laughter from every sane person throughout Wyoming…) According to the citation issued to Meg, “Subject admitted to making a controversial post on UW Crushes webpage and then lied about not doing it.”
Of course, her liberal friends are defending her and saying either she’s innocent or justified in this behavior. The ones who think she’s innocent ask, “Why would she do something like this to herself?”
My guess is that she either wanted to get her name and agenda out there, wanted to paint conservative young men in a bad light, or wanted to encourage a sheep-like following into thinking she’s more important than she. Or perhaps she was just that desperate for attention.
At this point in this bizarre and yet strangely hilarious story, Meg has been charged with “interfering in a police investigation”, which is a misdemeanor. She is, of course, innocent until proven guilty… and of course she’s pleading not guilty. Her first court date is May 13th at 9:00 a.m.
Silly liberal, I’m sorry but if you’re going to try and pull something like this, at least make it feasible.
First of all, a conservative male would never use the term “hatef*ck” because conservatives believe all crime is hateful – liberals are the ones pushing PC hate crimes so of course Meg would use that word to push her agenda. Second, “that chick runs her liberal mouth all the time and doesn’t care who knows it,” sounds less like an insult, and more like Meg bragging about being brave enough to push her agenda. Last, no conservative man I know would ever find that type of behavior “so hot” that he would be forced to rape her and turn her into a republican.
(Side note, in March of 2011, according to Trib.com, she reported receiving a “death threat” via email right before Ann Coulter was supposed to visit the campus. The threat said, “If I see her (Meg) I will send her to Hell with one shot and you can bet I won’t miss.”)
So not only is Lanker-Simons a liar, she’s a bad one—and not an overly creative one at that.
I should mention that living in the same state as Meg, I have personally come across her in a debate or two, specifically when she fought to bring domestic terrorist Bill Ayers to the University of Wyoming three years ago. She went so far as to file a lawsuit against the university to make sure Mr. Ayers could speak there. So this isn’t the first time she’s made the news in the Equality State. Perhaps she’s of the mind that negative press is still press? I’m not sure how she thinks this helps promote her agenda but hey, I’m not a liberal female so it’s hard for me to understand how their minds work (or don’t).
In closing, I spoke with a friend who is actually pretty bright and just so happens to be a democrat (there are a few out there) and he told me that even the democrats in this state for the most part think she’s an “attention hog” and a total embarrassment to their efforts. Perhaps she should have made the fake post from a fellow democrat, because they clearly have bigger issues with her than any conservative.
