When Did Our Bill of Rights Become the Progressives’ Bill of Wrongs?
The current administration has made it clear before even taking office that while our Constitution was good in its day, times have moved beyond our Founding Fathers. President Obama has admitted he feels constrained by our Constitution and said that it is an imperfect document and I think it is a document that reflects some deep flaws….
Therefore, it has become the style of this administration to allow the three branches of government to do their work as prescribed by the Constitution, but only when they fall out of step with what the White House wants.
For the first time in our history, the government can force a citizen to buy a product whether they want it or not. When ObamaCare was brought before the Supreme Court, our noble leader made it clear to Chief Justice Roberts that he would not take kindly to the Supreme Court going against his administration’s requirements on socialized health care. Chief Justice Roberts apparently had a Damascus moment and converted to the wishes of the POTUS.
Now, not only is our Constitution under attack, but our Bill of Rights are as well. This administration and his Democrat minions are declaring war on the citizens’ rights to bear arms under the Second Amendment, but the focus is also shifting to what they see as the problematic First Amendment—freedom of religion and freedom of speech. How is the Obama Administration making this possible? By circumventing the First Amendment through the redefining of terms by saying that only “certain words” are acceptable.
They are also trying to circumvent the Second Amendment by eliminating guns through various methods. One method is through the Department of Homeland Security, which I will discuss later in this article.
First Amendment Attack
It appears that the State of Washington is spearheading the Progressive agenda of incrementally deconstructing English in favor of the new politically correct reconstruction of “acceptable speech”. They are blatantly defining what we may or may not say when criticizing liberal issues and their societal social reengineering, beginning with our government schools (Common Core) and the military government bureaus, which have the chilling effect of overflowing into the society.

PolitiChick Karen Piper, Founder and Executive Director of Parent Led Reform says this about Common Core: “Common Core Standards is taking the United Stated down the wrong road and citizens are calling on elected leaders to courageously admit to the mistake and change gears into reverse.”
On April 22, Washington’s Governor Jay Inslee signed a law stating that gender neutral language has to be used in all state publications by 2015. Terms such as “fisherman” and “freshman” will be replaced with “fisher” and “first-year student”. Other replacements will be “journey-level plumber” instead of “journeyman plumber”, “handwriting” in place of “penmanship” and “signal operator” for “signalman”. Yep—penmanship!
If you think the State of Washington’s actions are an exaggeration, consider every newscast you have heard or article you have read where someone has used guns to kill or injure. When was the last time you heard someone refer to them as a gunman? They are all now referred to as shooters.
Since the publications cannot have any word with man in it and my grandparents came to America from Germany, am I now a Germperson-American? I guess I cannot say Germperson because it has a gender biased word in it, which leads me to being descended from a germ (Darwin would agree)…I guess Nelson Mandella will have to change his name to—maybe—Nelson Commie-della. Actually, that will not work either because his first name has the stubborn word son in it; I guess we all have to call him just plain ol’ Nel.
The Washington State law is an attack on the First Amendment. Curbing speech, redefining terms—it begins in an innocuous way by simply trying to eliminate harmless words that do not seem important one way or the other through social reengineering and government controlled institutions.
On the surface, this might seem like political correctness overkill, but if one is to stop and reflect for a moment as to how the government could possibly eliminate the First Amendment and free speech, consider the following: The best way is by utilizing terms that refer to racist or gender words. At first, federal and state institutions control this by not allowing certain speech/words to be permitted, claiming it is done “for the sake of not imposing bad feelings” on anyone or makes people feel marginalized. Sounds good, but after this concept is accepted, it filters down through society as a whole, and soon people become afraid of using certain words or terms because they think they will be looked upon as bigoted or phobic.
The next logical step is to then attach some type of discipline or fine against those who persist in using the un-favored terms or words. Before you know it, there will be laws prohibiting the use of such words or concepts because it has become socially understood that to do so may be hateful. These words could be defined as “hate speech” and if a crime is committed because of what someone was thinking, that would be hateful too. We could add additional sanctions against that individual by calling it a hate crime. (“Thought police” Hitler, Stalin and Orwell would be proud.)
Next we could attack people using terms the government does not approve of for us to use as—dare I say it? Hate speech. The First Amendment is shrinking already.
Does anyone besides me see a pattern here? We’re on a subtle decline. Christians are now considered horrible people and terrorists. We cannot say Merry Christmas. Schools no longer have Easter Break, but Spring Break. Christmas vacation is now referred to as Winter Break. In some cities, decorating the Christmas tree is referred to as the Festival of Lights.
So if it is religion that the politically correct in our society are worried about, then why is it they are so reluctant to admit that acts of terrorism–whether here, Benghazi or anywhere else–is caused by “religious” Muslims? Ft. Hood is an example when Obama referred to it as workplace violence, and more recently when Obama tripped all over himself trying to avoid the use of the words Islam and terrorists when addressing the Boston bombings.
Obama does not want to use Bush’s term “Axis of Evil”, and will not refer to the “Global War on Terror”, but instead he would like it to be referred to as an “Overseas Contingency Operation”. He has stated that “the language we use matters” and “what we need to understand is, is that there are extremist organizations—whether Muslim or any other faith in the past—that will use faith as a justification for violence. We cannot paint with a broad brush a faith as a consequence of the violence that is done in that faith’s name.”
And regarding the State of Washington’s new penmanship law, Liz Watson, a National Women’s Law Center senior adviser, tells us, Words matter…This is important in changing hearts and minds.
There you have it folks—their ultimate goal—changing hearts and minds toward Socialism.
On April 24, we learned that the Pentagon blocked access to the Southern Baptist website because it contains hostile content, just weeks after an Army briefing labeled Evangelical Christians and Roman Catholics as examples of religious extremism. Yes, Jesus taught us to love our enemies, and to pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5: 44-45). How is that for being hostile?
Without a doubt, any faith is besmirched when any religious nut commits violence in that religion’s name. There is nothing in the Bible where God tells His people to either convert them to the Judeo Christian faith or kill them if they refuse. Jesus said in Matthew 10:14, And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. However there is a faith that supposedly offers eternal rewards if one commits holy war or jihad. That religion—if carried out literally—is called Islam.
Yes, President Obama, words matter. Yes, Liz Watson, words matter. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
Second Amendment Attack
The Hill reports:
Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe and Rep. Frank Lucas have introduced a bill that would prohibit every government agency—except the military—from buying more ammunition each month, than the monthly average it purchased from 2001 to 2009. The lawmakers say the Obama administration is buying up exceedingly high levels of ammunition in an attempt to limit the number of bullets the American public have access to on the open marketplace.
“President Obama has been adamant about curbing law-abiding Americans’ access and opportunities to exercise their Second Amendment rights,” said Inhofe.
Front Page Magazine writer, Daniel Greenfield, states, “Obama delivered a speech today (May 4) in Mexico City where he blamed the United States for being the root of Mexico’s violence. He even implied that the 2nd Amendment was to blame, after absurdly claiming he was committed to “uphold” the right to bear arms.
But worst of all was the shameless hypocrisy of a man whose Attorney General Eric Holder carried out a gun-running ‘Operation Fast and Furious’ which sold AK-47s and other weapons, which have been used to murder over 300 Mexican civilians, and 2 U.S. Agents.”
