How Does One Become Self-Radicalized?

ayers-wright_obamaPresident Obama’s bedtime stories and fables (a.k.a. the nightly newscasts) are soothing.  The enchanting voice caressing our ears–one can almost hear the subliminal whisper “nothing to see here” as the narrative of events is spun.  The brothers Tsarnaev were on a quest to be self-actualized, when, acting as lone wolves, became self-radicalized then Mirandized.  One drifts off to sleep to the predictable moral relativist arguments for justifiable homicide and the slaughter of innocents in the name of Islam.

(Conveniently left out are the details of the mysterious circumstances surrounding the catch and release of marathon enthusiast, Saudi national, Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi).

Remember how the political punditry decried, “who is Barack Obama”?

Harken back to 2008 when on PBS’ Charlie Rose Show, a befuddled Tom Brokaw and Charlie Rose had this exchange:

ROSE:  I don’t know what Barack Obama’s worldview is.

BROKAW:  No, I don’t, either.  We don’t know a lot about Barack Obama and the universe of his thinking about foreign policy.

Was it journalistic malfeasance on the part of Brokaw, Rose and their ilk or did they knowingly fear that if the American people got a glimpse of then-Senator Obama’s past and associations his radical worldview would be exposed and resolutely rejected?

Collusion on the part of the media as they dismissed and watered down Senator Obama’s associations with Bill Ayers (convicted terrorist bomber), Bernadine Dohrn (three year alumn of the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List) and Reverend Jeremiah Wright (‘G-d Damn America’) is sobering.  Back in 2008 no one knew what a “community organizer” was nor did anyone know how one made a (very) comfortable living doing so.  Who was asking the questions and making the connections?  Not Brokaw or Rose.  They didn’t, or simply refused, to connect the fact that you are the company you keep.

Obama gravitates towards radicals like mosquitoes to a UV-light bug zapper.

In the media’s hatred for all-things-Bush, they resigned to Obama’s more palatable message of “hope and change “, championing his enigmatic transcendence over America’s generational tradition of racism and bigotry while concealing Obama’s radical worldview.

President Obama’s worldview can be seen through the lens of Muslim outreach:  see the demise of NASA and its mission, F-16s gifted to unstable rebels and their nefarious regimes, the overt snub of our only democratic ally in Middle East, Middle Eastern apology tours, the patsified blame of the Benghazi slaughter on an innocuous video.  He then transforms into the apologist-in-chief for all-things-Muslim at the first accusation of terrorism while threatening to court martial military chaplains for proselytizing the Christian faith with the sick and dying of the deployed.

It has been asked how college-educated intellectuals become self-radicalized.  One suggested answer is the Internet; it is a source of information in which ideology is absorbed through the eyes and ears of the open-minded allowing one to connect through social media to the like-minded.

Then how did college-educated intellectuals self-radicalize prior to the invention of the Internet?  Prior to the Internet, information was absorbed through reading – including certain books such as Rules for Radicals and Declaration of a State of War, voluntarily sitting through 20 years of messages about the evils of America (not unlike the elder Tsarnaev brother sitting through lectures of the radical imam at the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center) and associating with known domestic terrorists.

One becomes self-radicalized by reading a book with the word radical in its title.

No one is immune from self-radicalization, not even a sitting U.S. President.   We should give credence to President Obama’s notion that the Tsarnaev brothers self-radicalized – because he’s living proof that it can be done.
