Dem Legislators Want OUT of Obamacare But Want YOU IN: Angry Yet?

According to an April 2013 Kaiser Family Foundation Tracking Poll, 42% of Americans do not know that the Affordable Care Act has been enacted, with almost half of those believing it was repealed by Congress or overturned by the Supreme Court. 49% of the public says they do not understand the law or how it will impact their family.
Not surprisingly, the law is designed to benefit certain groups the most, like low-income families and those who are currently uninsured; however, nearly 60% of people from those groups say that they don’t understand the legislation at all.
A startling 40% of the population looks to friends and family for information about the law instead of news sources or government websites.
Wherever they go for information, they shouldn’t ask the lawmakers themselves for help in understanding. Suddenly, members of Congress are in a panic about the impact of the bill on their own families and staff. According to Politico, “Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul…”
Yes, that’s right; Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev), House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and others are worried about how their own staffers will pay for Obamacare and how the legislation impacts their own wallets.
One “proposal” they are contemplating is for lawmakers and aides to be completely exempt from the legislation!
Not a single Republican voted in favor of the Obamacare bill, so it’s natural to expect they continue to be opposed to it. Michael Steel, spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), says the aim is to save all Americans from the effects of the legislation, not just members of Congress.
It appears that the Democrats are only in favor of saving themselves.
The Affordable Care Act is the legislation that the Democrats crammed down everyone’s throats because it was supposed to be the best thing for America. Now the key leaders don’t want it and are worried about how to pay for it? According to Celebritynetworth.com, Harry Reid has a net worth of $5 million. It’s a safe bet to say that if he is worried about the costs to himself, the rest of us are in big trouble!
So now that lawmakers are being forced to understand the legislation they passed and it’s negative impact, they find themselves scrambling for a way out of it. On March 9, 2010, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi made her infamous remark: “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of controversy.”
It isn’t clear when the “fog of controversy” will be lifted, but the bill did pass and it’s just now starting to become obvious how many problems there are from implementing it to explaining it to the half of America that appears to be sleeping through it all.
Maybe next time our legislators will decide to read such an important bill like this in it’s entirety before passing a law that they discover they don’t want for themselves or their own families. The American population should be up in arms over this, but since most don’t even know the law is on the books, they are oblivious to the fact that their lawmakers are trying to exempt themselves from the laws they expect everyone else to abide by. These are the same Americans who vote these people into office, and the reason the problems in Washington, D.C. are becoming completely insurmountable.
In order to vote or run for office, you should have to pass a test to prove you have half a brain in your head. It’s time for the half of the country that is asleep to wake up and pay attention! If you voted for one of these Democrats who is looking to exempt themselves from the same legislation that they are forcing on you, vote them out of office in the next election! Everyone else needs to show up and vote, as well. And to those of you reading this who have family members relying on you for news, please pass it along. It won’t be long before the nightmare that is Obamacare will effect everyone in a very big way, including the ignorant–understand it or not, like it or not.
